yes but it could easily become the copo of this generation from the dealer.

Yes it could ... just like if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his azzzzz..

The LS3 makes 430 HP another 150 HP can be added with a head/cam swap, all the bolt ons and tuning...last time I checked a LS7 was a $13K priced engine that produces 505 HP...and if you mod the LS7 with out going in and replacing the pistons with forged units they have a propensity for blowing up ... lets just say that it is way to EZ and much less expensive to mod the engine that is already under the hood...you will most likely see shops like GMMG have upgrade packages for the 5th Gen cars and build special edition cars just as they did for the 4th Gen cars...just a FYI for ya COPO is dead....

4.6 2v = 280 hp
4.6 3v = 300 hp
4.6 4v = 320 hp

LT1 5.7 = between 260 - 300 hp
LS1 5.7 = between 305 - 350 hp
Quick FYI, no factory LS1 made under 345hp at the crank stock. GM rated them as low as "305hp" for marketing, as you will see if you take a look at dyno numbers. Bone stock "305hp" LS1 cars are putting 300+hp down to the wheels... Check the stickies in the newbie section.

I friend has the G8 GT and he went from 361hp to 402 with just a intake and tune..... outstanding

FYI to put AFM in a ls3 is not that hard. (For GM)

The LS3 block as well as the LS2 block is set up for active fuel management ... they just did not have it ... there is not much to adding it .... it is just a matter of using the correct lifters and valley cover.

I know this, I am using the Avertised ratings, because the dyno rating are not accurate since some show higher numbers than others.
so it's eaiser to post advertised thats all.

this is true, but could it be cheaper just to use the engine that was already designed for it? why use a gen IV engine for a new platform? why not go for the Gen V engines?

Update I just read that the Gen V engines won't be ready in time for the Camaro realese. the LS3 is a gen IV though. It already exists. This may then allow the LS3 to come in on the first year of the camaro... if this is the case I may have to wait till next year to buy a camaro, I want the newer technology engine.

The LS2 and LS3 were designed to use AFM...hence the blocks are set up to use it ... AFM has been around now for 3 years it is not what you would call new technology..it was used on the Silverado and the Tahoe using the 5.3 engine first .... the Gen V engines are still in development and you will not see one in the 5th gen Camaro in its initial production in 2009 (2010 model)
