Question Where's the leak coming from? (PICS)

Just found a puddle of power steering fluid on my driveway. Got under the car to look and found this. At first I thought it was the pump's high pressure hose but it's clean. I'm trying to figure out were is the leak coming from but I'm not very familiar with this part. Does it have any seals or do I need to replace the whole part?

Is anything above the rack leaking down onto the rack? Or are you sure its the rack/fitting right there? Because the reservoir/pump is in front of the drivers side head directly over that spot also.

I'd say take a rag and wipe all that crud away. Maybe a hairline crack in the rack. Regardless you need to clean it up and then turn the wheel. Preferably while your down there have someone turn the wheel. See where it comes out.

I had a PS leak, turned out the fluid was leaking by the fittings. Didn't use enough Teflon tape.

Agree, Hose it down with some brake cleaner, wipe it off and go from there.

Im having the same problems.. turns out the o-rings in the rack that seal the hard lines that go to up in the gear are bad.. Had to order new ones from the dealer..

that seems very unnecessary. there are o-rings on each line.

your leak appears to be coming from one of the pressure lines thats a part of the rack itself. good luck finding those o-rings. you may get lucky finding a hardware store with TONS of assorted o-rings.

unfortuntaly if youre looking for what to buy to fix this its the entire rack and pinion.

Damn, that is one greasy oil pan you got there.

The PS leak might be coming from higher up also.

How do you figure you need to replace the whole rack? I ordered the o-rings from the dealer.. 6 bucks a piece but they will fix the issue.

Except I have after market lines from my turbo kit, thus the teflon tape. Otherwise you would be 100% correct.

Looks like the O-ring might have gone bad. Lucky you. My snub shaft is leaking where the steering shaft meets the rack that sucks

i agree with these guys. Its def. that fitting. Otherwise it would be just as dirty as the rest. This leads me to believe the leak is coming from there.
