Default Leaky T-tops??

Okay im not sure where to put this so i put it in here. Does anyone have a problem with their t-tops leaking? Mine don't leak when it rains, only when i go through the car wash. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they fixed it. Oh and its only on the driver's side, i dont know why.

I have that problem, the seals are good enough to keep running water out, but not good enough to keep PRESSURIZED water out. I just accept it and hand wash my car. I presume 99% of this board hand washes as well to avoid damage from the carwashes.

Yeah I hand wash my car 100% of the time when its warm. But sometimes it is just too freaking cold out to hand wash it. I was thinking about putting RTV behind the weather-stripping was leaking to kind of build it up and make the seal tighter. Do you think this would work?

Possibly... might be hard to get off though. I suggest you try putting vasaline on the seal, it worked well when i had a vert.

mine does the same thing in the car wash also. I just put some silicone on the gaskets once or twice a year to keep them from drying out.

Mine leak on both sides whenever I wash the car. I'll notice a few drops down the inside of each window and maybe a drop or two on the back seat. My brother's 02 Z28 does the same exact thing.

Keep in mind mine's a T-Top conversion but the tops themselves don't leak. I get leaks right at the joint of the t-top and the rear body weather stripping. But that's only when it's power washed. Just like you though, I hand wash 100% of the time, when it's warm. But in temps like these I have no choice but to power wash. I just go to the do-it-yourself ones and let off the high pressure trigger in that area. It sill leaks just a bit, but it's one of those things we just have to live with.

i heard of a trick on here about spraying wd-40 on the weatherstripping, but never did it cuz i thought it would make the inside of my car smell like spray lubricant. supposedly it works but idk

/\ Ive heard something similar about using something like Vaseline on the weather stripping, never tried it.
With my leaks (ttop conversion) I just hit it up with some silicone, no problems yet even at car washes!

i've heard the same thing but i also heard that wd-40 will mess up your weather stripping once it dries out. but its what i've heard.

i used to have a 91 rs with t-tops and the leaked pretty bad. the guy that bought the car after i had it said that he adjusted the tops. apparently you can take the plastic off of the side of the tops and there is a way to adjust them. idk though. i've never tried it but i did notice that the tops on my old car looked to be alot better fitting after the guy adjusted them.

Mabey i'll just start going to the do-it-yourself washers or whatever. No more drive through ones for me haha. It acctually warmed up enough for me to hand wash it last night, so its good and clean right now. Road salt sucks
