I was ruined as a kid because I did that. There was this bad *** ford galaxie down the road, I remember it had ladder bars, and big tires. This was probably 1978, I was six.

The guy was working under it and I walked up and bent down to watch, when he seen me he yelled GET THE **** OUTTA HERE!!!
He also said something to the effect that if he seen me on my bike he'd run me over.

I guess thats why I drive chevys today.

True

And:
One time I ran into 7-eleven real quick for a pack of Trident, left my car running, and when I got back outside a guy (45 or so) says
"Is that a Trans Am?"
I say "Sure is"
and all he has to say is "Sweet."

Mostly nice people, but I do get alot of "SLOW DOWN" when I'm not speeding

I had some jackass in a Prius get behind me on the highway late one night. He got as close as possible and turned his brights on and left 'em on.

Now, I would have normally gotten pissed off at this. But, instead I decided to show him what it's like to buy an American car. So, since the highway was relatively clear, I dropped it down into 2nd and let him smell the fresh unburned gasoline - due to no catalytic converters of course - expelled through my extremely loud and efficient cutout and ran it up to about 120. I think I pissed him off a bit more as he tried to catch up to me.

But, honestly, I cannot drive my car without at least one person trying to get me to race or someone asking me about the car or complimenting it. I very rarely have people complain about it, other than how loud it is.

I've had both mostly good though, I love driving out of state to see family and the nephews 11,13 beg me to take them for a ride just down the road so they can hear the car. And kids in the apartments stare when theyre waiting on a bus for school and I start it up. Negative remarks usually comes from a neighbor and his prelude talking about his car beating my *** but never wants to run or anything, and when confronted just rattles off about mpg and reliabilty. When his car has been towed out of the parking lot 4+times the past 2yrs for uknown reasons. And as always the kids in the civics with missing body panels and no hubcaps riding my *** and pulling the ricer flyby while holding a finger out the window and praying their super glued wing doesnt fall off as they hit 80mph.

great thread ive had nothing but positive stuff, though once i had a guy tell me nitrous was for pussies...he was carrying on a normal conversation until he asked what it had so i told him. His reply was "thats gay, naws is for pussies". Finally i pointed out to him he was sitting in the back seat of a 2 door honda, and he quickly shut his mouth.

On the other side of that i went into a store and came back out to see an old man and his dog looking at my car. I said "hi", and he replied "wow, that a special edition trans am or something?" I said "yes sir it is, its a firehawk". all he said was "man, thats beautiful, They dont make cars like that anymore". All i said was thank, but i was thinking what does he mean, its only a 2002. I guess the cars true age passes me up time by time.

And Arc, where in San diego are you at usually? there are alot of hippies around. I can show them an annoying car lol. Let me know if you ever wanna run and grab a beer or something, not too many of us down here.

Never. Then again, my high school times are long gone already.

People tend to comment on older people's car a bit less, I guess, but I've still gotten quite a few compliments when ever I've driven an F-body. I tend to keep my vehicles clean and good looking.

Now that I've driven my RMW a little over a week, I've gotten a lot more thumbs up than I ever got when driving an F-body, though.
