Tuner or Tires??
Hey guys. I am deciding what I am going to purchase next for my car.
It is a '99 SS. Car already has a lid and P/P TB. I will be installing pacesetter LT's, TSP Y-pipe, and SLP LM2 CB on Tuesday.
I am deciding whether to purchase Mickey Thompson ET drag radials or a Diablo Sport programmer. What do you guys think?

Don't buy a tuner. They are useless. And careful with sticky tires and the stock 7.5" 10-bolt. for the money, i would look into some SFC's or other suspension. Way better than an tuner. I just dont like the idea of Drags on the stock rear, its a good way to waste the Rear.

Subframe Connectors.
I know I lose some races and can't break into 12's with my 111 traps because of these super crappy street tires, so fwiw, I'll personally be getting tires before a tune. Plus I'm hoping to get a cam soon too, so it wouldn't be worth it to me to get a bolt on tune.
You won't be driving this car in the rain, right?
Oh and don't buy a programmer. If anything, save up for HPtuners or EFIlive, it's not too much more, but does a looot more stuff. Or spend that money for a dyno tune at a shop near you.

It really depends on the car. You didn't mention if its an A4 car or a M6 car. If its an A4 you will more than likely be ok with the 10 bolt for a while until you start throwing some serious power at it, even on some sticky tires. If you have an M6 car however and you plan on running a sticky tire and doing some clutch drops, well for one you will need a new clutch and after you replace that you will need a new rear end.
I don't agree with the comment about the tuner being useless completely, the diablo tuners are useless, if you get something good like HPtuners or EFILive though they are not useless at all. They are in fact very useful. You would be surprised at the power of the program and all the things you can do yourself. If you want to get a tuner, get HPtuners or EFILive.

A dyno tune would be my vote.
If the TSP Y is non cat, you'll need to tune out the rear o2's. Second, you'll see really nice gains with those mods and a dyno tune.
Worry about traction later on. Build the power first. Spinning tires are forgiving on the drivetrain. It's when they grip is when you'll break something

I'd go sub frame connectors before any sticky tire, you don't want that chassis to flex at all or you'll get some t-top leak if you have them, if not then you'll jsut be able to see that it flexed in the rear quarter panels. Once you have your SFCs, throw whatever tire you want, expect to break your stock rear though eventually if you're m6.

I just got a predator tuner I wouldnt call it junk for a bolt on car Im sure if you want to take the time and learn hptuners its much better but none the less Im happy with mine Im starting to get everything dialed in and it seems to be running stronger. BTW if your thinking of buying an older one that wont adjust the fuel trims or that wont do data logging Id say it junk
Im sure in about 5mins im going to have about 20 people calling me a ******* retard for buying one also
