Default Truck guys!!

Alright I've seen some of you guys that have built some really cool latemodel LSX trucks. 1st question: does anybody have one that is 4 wheel drive?

I was staring at my fathers 02' z71 side step silverado and I started wondering,...Most take a 4x4 and jack it up, but what if I lowered it and built the 5.3 to the hilt? Could the stock transfer case handle a lot of power? Is this even a possible idea? Would the gears in the front case be good or bad for racing? Now obviously you wouldn't need the Z71 off road package, that is just what gave me the idea, but to me it would be a race truck that is AWD or RWD by the push of a button. Shaft angles affected? All wheel burn outs sound sweet!!!!!

that would be like the silverado SS truck. The trucks look cool and the awd is cool, except the trannys in the SS's arn't worth a damn. My coworker has a maggie supercharged one and is on his 3rd trans.

The front diff case is an alloy which is weak and that is why you can't buy a locking diff for those trucks. I have one and it is a great truck but is why the hardcore off roaders go solid axle. The 2500 series have a locking diff available.

Except I would do a shortbed regular cab. 8000lbs isn't an SS! (imho)
3!! I'd be pissed!

I see, so that could be a fitment issue when lowering, probably because the locker is bigger??

Thanks guys I'm headed to that website.

I guess I didn't read your question right and thought you were talking about launching in 4wd and was pointing out the front diffs are weak. The g-80 lockers in the rear aren't real strong either though.

I would just start with a 2wd personally.

99345 is right cause you are talking about 4l60E pushing a heavyass truck.

Look up Parish8, he had a 10 flat second truck 4x4. Which he later sold:

i got a local tuner(well known locally with LSx's) and he's looking at buying my '00 Silverado 4.8 5 speed truck and turning it into a race truck He's thinking of adding a 6.0 to it, stroked and juiced But i'm only wanting $6k outta the truck so he wanted something cheap but still in nice shape

You might be able to pickup a sierra C3 a little cheaper than the SS.

Only the ones in 1500HD and up frames with 6.0L and 8.1L engines. All other V8s had the 4L60E behind gas engines or Allison 1000 behind diesels. Automatics only, some had manuals as well.
