Should I trade my 03 Cobra for a 99 Vette?

The weight advantage from the Z comes mainly from the wheels and TI exhaust. Wheels and catback are usually among the first mods that people do to their cars so the weight difference is almost non-existant in my mind. The way I see it the Z comes with more options (but who really needs a power pasengers seat and HUD?), a better suspension which as said before most people don't posess the skill to take full advantage of, and a different tranny. There are other small differences between the two but not enough to make the Z THAT much better IMO, especially since most Z's cost $3,000-$5,000 more than an FRC.
If you're talking about being able to spend 5k on a stock cobra to get 6,000rwhp there is no way its happening, you'll have to spend atleast double that amount. Sure, a Kenne Bell may be 5k but then you have to get all the parts for the fuel system, you need an exhaust, you'll need to upgrade the rear and tires....it goes on and on. I knew someone with a Whipple terminator that made 600+ RWHP and he said he had over $20,000 in the car, I'm sure he bought some things that wern't absolutely necessary but you see what I'm saying.

Just the fact that you said one of the mods on the Cobra was nitrous, I'd stay away from it. Modular Ford engines arn't like LS1's...when you give them nitrous with stock internals it's only a matter of time before it blows up. I've seen it happen way too many times. In this specific case, I'd go for the Corvette.

I have a C6 with near 500rwhp and I miss my 2.8H KB Cobra everyday. If I could do it again. I would have kept the Cobra. C5....hell no. C5Z maybe, C6 maybe, but my advice to you, only get out of the Cobra for a C6Z, then again, I'm talking about 650- 700rwhp Cobras. IMHO -

I'm about the straight line.
So it's a no brainer here, keep the 4V.
You do realize it's going to take a hell of a lot to get that LS1 FRC to trap anything near the cobra right?
It sounds like you almost have a 125 car, you will have to put much more into the FRC for it to trap something close.
I got the flame suit ready to go.
Now if it were a newer C5Z, then I would probably make the trade.

I am a gm guy and love Vettes but keep the Cobra. Then if you get a family no reason to get ride of the Vette you'll have a back seat already.. LOL.. I love the sound of the whine from the blower on the Cobras.

You kind of contradict yourself, if you're all about straight lines why would a cammed FRC be less appealing to you than a lesser powered C5Z?

It's no easier to make the C5Z trap 125 than it is to make the FRC trap 125. The FRC will need H/C/ls6 intake at the least and the Z will need a cam and ported heads at the least. It might cost maybe $1,000 more to get the FRC to hit the trap number than it would cost in the Z but last time I checked an FRC that is comparable to a Z is more than $1,000 cheaper.

Pure sex apeal of a C5Z as well as value and price.
Aside from that you must be kidding yourself if you think they are anywhere near the same price modded or not.
I coulda picked up a clean 99 FRC with mid 50's on the clock for 16k.
Good luck finding a C5Z for anything close to that.
They don't book anything close to one another.
The difference is by thousands.
As well as I never made the comparision between an FRC and Z.
I made the comparison between the 4V and a NEWER Z.
