Default 383 or LQ4

Here is the deal, i have a LQ4 "COMPLETE" trans included. I was wanting to put it into my 68 camaro. But, I can't really nor Do I want to put the truck intake in the camaro. I need to change the oil pan add fuel system to support the possible mods etc. I hope you get the idea here.
A friend of mine has a 383 that is all eagle equipped with i-beam rods, iron eagle heads, 282hr cam in a 91 SWB.
I was thinking of swapping him, but he said he is afraid of losing power.
My question here is, if he is at 400HP with his 383, what could be done to make 400HP with the LQ4 in his truck?
He would still use all of the LQ4 truck set up in his truck, as to where it will not fit in my Camaro. He could just drop it in his more less...
thanks
Ed

meant to type LS6 intake, but yes both will fit. LS6 flows better.

EDIT: This link might be of some help. Its a 5.3, but should be about the same.

ah. well to be at 400 for the LQ4, if your talking wheel hp, then you'll just need headers, cam (plus supporting mods/tune which would be close to a grand)
