Default 02 exhaust on a 98 power gain

ok so i swore ive read an article somewhere about someone putting 02 exhaust (from a ws6 i believe) on a 98 and it made a good bit more power. cant remember the results and ive looked for the article jsut about everywhere. except the place i read it. lol. just wondering if anyone knows about this article im speaking of or if any power gains could be expected from a swap like that. i think they may have added the ls6 intake too. but like i said i cant remember what all was done or gained.

u would get a gain but I don't see it being that big.. Just get a cutout or any catback. The ls6 intake will prob help alot to btw

ls6 intake swap is worth it, the rest is not. yes the exhaust manifolds flowed better after 99, but for the effort it takes to swap them, TRUST ME when I tell you its not worth the 3-5 hp gain.

well i did find an 02 exhaust from a ws6 actually lmao. and oddly enough it has an electric cutout too. and yea i mean ill def get a ls6. i was more concerned about what the gains would be. the guy wants 250 for the set up so i mean i might just do that.

on an otherwise stock car a cutout is good for about 10 hp, and one of the local guys did two back to back runs on the dyno (cam only car) and gained 30 hp with the cutout open (closed they were going through chokemasters)

your not going to notice a power gain from going from one stock exhaust to another. just save up for a good catback. if your looking to keep it quiet, look into hooker or magnaflow.

do the free mods (port TB, TB bypass, free ram air, etc.) all those are cheap/free hp, and will give you a little gain.

You can pick up a brand new magnaflow catback system for 350 shipped.

If you're going to pick up a guy's used exhaust, then don't spend 250 for a stock exhaust. Use that 250 in this forum's classifieds towards getting a researched & developed, proven, brand name, catback system.

Get a nice free flowing catback system or if your dead set on gettin a cheap exhaust from another f-body, find a SS with the dual/dual slp option. You could pick up an easy 10-12 rwhp from that exhaust. GL finding one though.

Get a cut out. When mine is closed I can definitely feel a difference, it pulls a lot harder up top when it is opened
