I've seen some LS1 cam regrinds on E-bay for pretty cheap. Has anyone successfully used one of these? Aren't the stock rollers heat treated only so deep?

I run regrinds all the time.....but you gotta know what your having ground, and have it checked (have someone degree it) before just slapping it in the car. I have them degree'd on a assembled short block, to check actual cam specs before i install them in a already assembled motor. I have tried the "ebay guy"....his cams were all over the place, his Z06 copy only had .501 lift! I have a local place i go through now, they are pretty much spot on. Also, you need to have the proper core. You can grind lift and duration numbers as you like, but you really cant change LSA more than 1-1.5 degrees from what the original cam was ground on. Most 5.3 cam cores are on a 114 lSA, or close to it, they are a good core to use for a 112-115 LSA regrind. Most 6.0 cam cores are around 116-117 lsa, and the LQ9 factory cams spec out at almost 119 LSA! there is a core # on the back of each cam, ive been writing them down when I get cores the cam grinder deems as a "good" core for a particular grind. I usually wind up running a 7.450 (.050" long) pushrod on most of the smaller cam grinds, as the grinder says they come out on a .050 smaller base circle when he's done. This goes out the window with larger regrinds, as valvetrain geometry changes just like any other cam, and pushrod length needs to be checked.
Nothing wrong with a regrinds if you know what / who your dealing with! You regrind your crankshaft on a rebuild, you bore your cylinders, its no different as long as your having it done correctly and understand that there are limits as to what profile lobe you can put on what core you use.
Call me cheap.......but were in a recession man!

PM me if you want info on a reputable shop (been in business since the 60's) that makes their own cams and regrinds others.
I've had one of their regrinds in my truck for a couple thousand miles now with no problems. Took a big Comp cam that was NIB (couldn't find a buyer for it) and had it reground to XR 259 specs with more duration on the exhaust side.
Just shoot me a PM. They're prompt, curteous, and have a good reputation. They may even be the shop you're already considering.
