Most heads on the market are going to net you 400rwhp.
The better heads will actually net you closer to 450rwhp+... with some combos approaching 500rwhp with an aggressive cam.
Also, it is better to choose the H/C combo that meets your needs and then match the stall to your combo. A 3000 stall is pretty small but (from what I understand) is pretty adaptable to a variety of different camshafts.
Shoot patrick G a message and see if he will degree a cam for you and recommend a set of heads to meet your goals.

Remember also that the LS3/L92 heads are not only made for the big bore motors, but they are also not a Cathedral Port Style head, they have rectangular ports. Which doesn't allow you to run a LS1/LS6/FAST 90 or 92 intake on it.
Your only option is a L92 truck intake (does not fit under stock hood, flows like crap), L76 car intake ( which is pretty limited in flow) or a "Carb style" intake which is, from what I have heard, not very street friendly.
Needless to say, I would definitely swing towards the 5.3 heads, but you might have a tough time making 400 RW hp with a smaller cam, as auto's tend to suck hp on the dyno. BUT it will still be fast as hell.

wow thanks for all the help. i just sold my 95 in my sig today. so let the modding begin on my 98! i was at sarver performance today watching a gto with 59cc patriot heads on his ls1 with a ls6 intake and full exhaust. he put down 440 at the wheels threw a 6 speed. he said the patriot heads are about the same as the 5.3 heads.
which one would be better in that case the patriot or the 5.3?

To your last question, the Patriots he was running probably were 5.3 style heads. I'm guessing they were Stage 2 or 2.5 5.3L heads. Just a wild guess, but they're probably very close in price and performance to the TSP offerings. Both of which will put you over the 400RWHP goal with a decent cam.

Really dont need heads for a 400rwhp. I had 398RWHP on a M6 though. Mods, full exhaust, LS6 intake(stocker on my 01), Lid, tune, and a MTI G1 cam. Exactly like a LG G5x1 cam, 581/588 228/228 I think. Baby cam compared to other off the shelf cams.

if you are looking just for 400 rwhp , Don't Waste Your Money Buying aftermarket heads
full bolt ons + aggressive camshaft (vindicator vengeance / MS4 TSP / polluter Tick) + good tune = 400-425rwhp
BUT if you want a bad *** head/cam combo , 215cc TEA TFS 59cc chamber + vengeance vindicator camshaft is the best way to go
you may hit 470-500 rwhp depending on your bolt ons
with (yella terra ultra light rocker arms - electric water pump - ported F.A.S.T 92mm - 92mm T/B ) , 500 rwhp should be no problem with your stock 5.7L ls1

I had the stage 2.5 5.3L heads on my old setup, they're awesome budget heads for a stock cube motor. The LS3 heads flow better, but are designed for a larger bore, and require a different intake.

im looking at a set of tsp stage 3 ls6 heads and i cant get ahold of them so i called patriot and they said that much flow will hurt me because of the stock cubed motor. i never thought there could be too much flow. he also said my ls6 intake isnt good past around 400 ish rwhp i just bought the damn thing cause i thought the stock one was gonna hold me back.
so i should or shouldnt get the stage 3 ls6 heads?
