Default Can you spin your tires w/ a A4 from a stop?

I can't spin my tires from a stop. My car is a a 4 with 2.73 gears. That could be why. I have some junk all season tires. Stock size. Mods are in sig. Could you guys spin your tires with 2.73 gears? My car just grabs and goes. I plan on getting 3.73's very soon. I'm sure those will help the car out some! I hope.

You should be able to break them loose. You just floor it from a standstill on the street and it wont spin? I wish I had that problem..

Ya, I floor it from a stop and it just goes. NO tire spin at all. I don't want to beat on my car, but you'd think it would spin. Car runs great. Pulls good for the gears it has. No missfires or any issues with the car at all.

I can spin mine quite easily, I have nexen 275s and 323s though. I would be VERY surprised if you can spin your tires. Let your foot off the brake from a stand still, and floor it! Make sure you put her right down or it won't break loose. TRY not to shock your whole drivetrain either. When I spin off the line I let the car roll several feet just to make sure the drivetrain is under load, THEN I punch it. Don't let it get rolling too fast though or it won't happen. It's just that you don't really want to be "snapping" it into action. Although if you do you will spin even easier, but not worth it to me. That's just my opinion.

**** I just noticed you had lts as well! You should be putting down the same as me AT LEAST. Even though I have an ls6 intake, headers trump that. Could there really be that much difference between 273s and 323s? Hmmmm.

I think it's the gears I have. The car pulls ok for the gears. No issues at all with the car otherwise. I do need a tune though. It grabs 2nd pretty good. Chirps some times. I never tryed a brake stand. Don't really want to do that to the stock 10 bolt.

Your 10 bolt will hate you more for dead hooking than spinning. If done correctly a brake stand only hurts your brakes really? Someone correct me if i'm wrong here. Even then you can get a line lock. It's all about not "shocking" the system or letting the tires overrun with no resistance. Just don't let it redline if you are brake standing, and then just roll out of it, keeping your rpms midrange. edit: could hurt your tires too

Also, a tune might be just what the doctor ordered. Is it not true that a small amount of low end torque is lost through adding headers? So that combined with the fact that the LS engines offer less low end than the former LT1s did, and the fact that you are 273s could be the reason maybe.

I have 2.73s and it doesn't take much to light them up... of course I have some crappy ecstas with about 30% tread left.

Stock gears, stock stall, not much power. Not gonna be a real tire burner.
