Didn't say the LT1 wasn't a capable platform. I was stating the car hobby's take on that engine these days. Same goes for the L98 TPI 350 which is just as capable a platform as the LT1 but how many people do you hear at the local Sonic singing it's praise?
The LS1 just went so far past the horizon that everybody just forgot about the previous GM small blocks. Just look at the current issue of Super Chevy. Almost every car in that magazine is LS powered.

IMO your hanging around a crowd of water head retards cause around where im at every weekend you find ls1 and lt1's smacking that *** its to the point where no one will race any of us. around here the lt/ls1 are still feared the only cars that give a good run are 03/04 cobras. so bottom line you cant lose street cred if everyone is chasing you

I don't think the LS1 is losing street cred but i do think alot of people consider it an old engine.

It may be getting old, but there are still alot of people that want one who have never had one. Hell the motor/cars have been out for 10+ years.
People ridicule 5slows too, but some of those aren't to be messed with either. How long have those been out and are a dime a dozen now...

id say no. but id also go alogn with the fact that it is the weakest of the LS motors, just for the small bore. not calling it weak, as it still kicks plenty of ***, but compared to the rest of the lineup, especially the LS3, the ls1 and ls6 are losing ground. but thats what happens when you have a 10+ year old motor. they (LS3s) are getting numbers from bolt ons that alot of LS1/6 guys get from H/C. for the simple reason of the bore, i probably wont be doing a h/c, unless its big $$ stuff. ill wait to buy a goat or build a junkyard 6.0. doesnt mean my bolt on LS1 wont be kickign *** until then! and of course, there is the almighty equalizer that makes anything run like a champ, giggle gas

Everywhere I have taken my LS1 it has seemed to be almost a mythical status. People look and say "is that an LS1?" and they just stare all the time. 5.0's have been around for 20 years and are still praised. I dont see the LS losing cred for a long time.
Alot of people talk **** about LSX's because they constantly get their asses handed to them.
As for the 5.0 Mustang, it will be the first time in almost 50 years that Ford made a mustang (besides 87-94) that may beat a Camaro. I think were doing pretty good.

I dont see anyone wanting a heads up race with the LS1 unless they actually have something. Ricers rev and do fly bys but only when traffic is blocking me, if the road is open they turn off every time! I get plenty of respect from other drivers even of Mustangs, old and new and of course its mutual, but not the junkyard turbo built hondas.
At the track bolt on dont get huge respect anyway. They definitely dont have the wow factor anymore, everyone knows they are fast. Its just all the magazine and net racers that go on specs and numbers and since the LS1 doesnt make the biggest numbers, it isnt considered top dog.
And if you do get a race with some ricer he'll bust out some MPG or hp/liter calculations. There will always be chuckleheads, just avoid them and hang out with more informed gearheads.

One other thing I really love about how well built 4th gens are, is that a 425 6.1L Hemi will run a flat 13 1/4 while a stock LS1 with less power and torque will do it in 13.2. Sometimes faster with a good driver.

Considering I had a guy with a 08 C6 Z06 tell me that he loves my car and has a 02 WS6 TA and a 02 35th LE SS in his garage for his fun cars says one thing.
LS1 is still very much alive.
