[QUOTE=SOMbitch;12326023] 6.2L > 5.0L
and it will be proven once the mods start getting added
Hardly, when LS1 cars keep getting faster, example http://gonicd.com/videos/9_47_inside.wmv
FWIW F*rd is coming out with a new all aluminum 5.0 in 2011 that is supposed to make 425ish putting it right there with an LS3![Bang Head](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_banghead.gif)

Look at all the people putting LS1's in Foxbodys. I've never seen anyone put a 5.0 or 4.6 in an Fbody lol. Thats a huge compliment right there.

Heck even some of the L92 5th gens are dynoing around what a stock LS1 does.
Regardless, the LS1 is the baby that started it all and its still the most desirable engine out there.

A 6.2 IS NOT A LS1

And to the previous poster a LC2 is a 159ci 4 valve twin turboed ferrari motor IIRC used in the late 80's in their race cars. Never knew it was a Buick motor as I never had much interest in them...

H/C/I and stall+gearss if you're auto and gears and 9" if you're M6, hell just gears with H/C/I should get you in the 11's if you know how to drive and most cars can't run those #'s with a sizeable amount of money invested, the opposing team hates it because after they dump an assload of money into their cars they still get walked by "old" ls1 cars..don't even talk about FI or the jug..in most cases we have less than half(money-wise) of what they paid for their car (figure 20+k = mods for mustangs, etc...) and they still don't stand a chance...you're not denial..they are..they know they should have bought an ls car instead of whatever it is they're driving...unless its a terminator

Factory numbers are useless unless you are an uneducated new car buyer unaware of vehicle weight differences, etc. Everyone know a stock LS1 Fbody will smoke a 2010 V6 Camaro (I actually had one try to run with me on the highway

I still have the import and ford guys bending over to my 408 LS motor. Last time i went to a meet I had a crowd of people surrounding me as i pulled in. I didnt have any trouble when it was stock either.
There always is a few haters out there though, usually the people who know nothing about cars like to talk ****.

Dont get bent outta shape.
99% of the people who talk ****:
-Dont know ****
-Dont own/will own ****
-And from where I used to hang out, ride with other people b/c they dont have ****, or "im building it"...GTFO
I stopped goin to the hang outs b/c of those reasons. Noone raced, most talked **** that had either nothing or 14+ second cars in the 1/8th. Most quit talking when you walk all over one of the fastest cars at the hangout, lol.

Here on Long Island, it's mostly ricer heaven. I got a friend with a 06 GTO and thats the only person I know with an LS engine. Everybody sticks to rice and mustangs. I do see alot of Corvettes around and everybodys got a new Camaro as well. At a car show you usually just see old muscle cars and about 100 corvettes. Put it this way, I brought my stock autobahn aurora down to the races. The only thing that beat me was a friends worked mustang and it was a fairly close race. Those kids with the scions and hondas. Oooooh boy!
I guess to answer the question, LS1's have not lost there street credit but around here, it seems as if it never had it to start with. Look up 2Fast2Real2 and that gives you an idea of what people have in my area. Theres actually a funny 5 minute clip in it of some guys test driving a z28 LS1 Camaro and they beat the **** out of it.

I live in an area infested with rice and mustangs. I've raced all kinds and i have a M6 with a SLP lid and a P&P TB. I've gotten a few close ones but nothing great. I've kept up and often beaten the "newer stuff" LS6 CTS' SRT10 Ram's, etc. As for the Honda/Tuner import crowd, they all know my cars stock but very rarely do any of them dare hit the gas once we go out for the cruises.
I also had a buddy with a 02 WRX with every possible bolt on+new turbo that could never egde on my stock LS1 last year. Never. BUT-His car being all flamboyant with grills, spoilers, body kits, etc was the center of attention. I guess that's just how our society is going towards.

Thats a shame considering NY has some of the fastest muscle in the country and I figured Long Island would be no exception. Around here the ricers know the pecking order or find out when they grow up.

Oh dont get me wrong, theres PLENTY of fast cars around here. My friend for example has a 455 86 cutlass making 600hp at the wheels. I guess it depends where you live on the island. Nassau county is full of rice. Suffolk county has alot nicer stuff and thats where alot of the racing is done. Lol
