Default Traction Control?

If an f-body does not have a button for traction control, is there any traction control at all on the car. I am looking a 2000 WS6 and the guy said he took the cover of the diff and looked to have traction control setup. I have no idea. My 98 M6 has a button for it.

It's not supposed to. My car is fully loaded minus the traction control (did they guy have to special order it that way, because I've never seen one equipped like mine?)

No button from factory means no traction control.

Usually no button = no traction control. But with used cars you never know. It could have been a TCS option car and the previous owner just deleted it. Pop off the little plate in front of the shifter and see if the button got shoved back there. Also how many cables are on the throttle body? 1 = TCS and 2 = No TCS.

ok, thats what I was thinking. I know its a true WS6 cause it has the WS6 code where all the codes are located. Also he said he took it to the 1/8th mile and I think he said he ran a 9.2 or something. Is that right? I have no idea in the 1/8th. Oh the car is stock except no catalytic converters and a stupid flowmaster muffler.

Look for the TCS box located directly behind the battery on the passenger fender well. It should have 2 throttle cables going into it.

And correct me i am wrong here, but there is nothing inside the Differential that is going to tell him it has traction control. I thought the traction control was controlled by the Sensors in the bearing assembly, telling the car when the rear wheels are moving at a higher rate than the fronts, you are loosing traction.

If it has a wire going into the top of the rear housing it is a three channel no TCS. That wire goes to a reluctor inside the diff for the ABS so if he knows WTF he is looking at he can tell...If there are sensors on the backing plates 4 channel yes to TCS.

Just look for the wire on the diff.....

find out the fun way. do a burnout and if the computer doesnt cut in and stop, no TCS/ASR. although having a button for it, or lack there of, is 99% of the time correct. but burnouts are fun
