I live in California, I'm sure elsewhere the laws are different in regards to having headers on your cars.
What has everyone's experience been with being pulled over by a cop and either being fined or getting out of a fine when they inspect the car looking for headers/superchargers etc etc???
I plan on owning a daily driver LS1 soon with long tube headers and no cats.

Here in Michigan we dont have that problem or the emissions laws you do in Cali. From what I have heard they can & will inspect your car on site for unlawful mods such as LTs & or sniff the tailpipe. Theres guys out there that do have these mods as well so just wondering how they fly under the radar with it. I wouldnt wanna live there.

I have Hooker Super Comp 1 7/8 LT, 3'' true duals, no mufflers. A couple of my neighbors complained to our HOA and was told they couldn't do anything. The complainers referred their issue to local PD and was told they wouldn't do anything either. I read about it in the newsletter. I'll be attending HOA meetings from now on.
I'm as courteous as I can be, for the car being what it is. If they have an issue and would come talk to me like neighbors are supposed to do, I'd put mufflers on it.

I drove my car straight piped for 2 years with no problems. Long tubes, ORY, SLP exhaust with no resonator. Then I cammed it haa. Never once had a problem here in NE PA, nothing was mentioned either while I was pulled over about the noise...

Here in Houston I don't get hassled by anybody. Even though I hardly drive the car the neighbors are cool about it. There are 4 guys that live within 1000 feeet that have very loud motorcycles so my car just kinda blends in. Most people are relatively young so they don't care. I get my car inspected where there are no emmissions so its no big deal for me.

CA is the worst for emissions. I am glad I am no longer a resident!
I was told by my brother that they have "ref's" there, and if the cop doesnt really know the exact reg on what is what with your car, he calls in the ref. The ref knows everything about cars, and once he pops the hood he starts a checklist. The car always ends up being towed, and the driver being fined for every mod that is out of compliance, ie: car too low, no mufflers, no cats, LTs, etc.
THANK GOD FOR TEXAS!

here in the bay area they have smog traps every now and again. i've had my LTs and ORY on for almost a year now and haven't been hassled. like someone said before, as long as you aren't driving like a jackass you should be alright.

Where I live there is no inspection.
Hell, drive 10 mins into the middle of nowhere and 2/3 cars you see will be visibly burning oil.
Yet we have some of the cleanest air...hmmm.
