new to the forum and wanted to ask u great guys/gals for your opinion. i cannot decide.
i was wondering if u guys would go for an gbody or get modern muscle? my choices for modern will be 05 gto or 2010camaro ss. if i went the Gbody route it would b 87 monte SS or 87 regal. either will have a LSx platform. lookin for street/track car, mostly street. 500+hp to the wheels is my goal. this will not b my daily, but would love 2 b able to take road trip to a out of state meet or carshow.
i like the idea of ol skoo becuz of not havin a car note. lol wha do u guys think??

The older cars will be more work because you'll need to do the entire LSx conversion just to get started. The GTO/SS, you'll be able to just start bolting on horsepower as soon as you get the car. The '10 SS will be the most expensive, as it's a brand new car still. The '87 Regal will be the cheapest to buy. Keep in mind, if you do the conversion, you'll need a donor car for all the parts and wiring, or if you buy all that stuff new it'll get much more costly.
If you are actually broke, I would say all of these are bad options.

Well either way you go can't be wrong. The easiest would be the GTO, less expensive than the Camaro and you won't have to do the LSx conversion stuff. Now, if you were to go modern and you already had thoughts of an LSx G-body, you will end up with an lsx G-body and a GTO for the price of a 2010 Camaro.
Trust me on this one, I had always wanted an LS1 WS6 and finally got it. But before I found it I had thought about a 2nd gen LS1 swap, guess what I'm doing now? LS1 swap on a 1980 T/A. Could not let the deals go by me, $400 for the car, $2000 for the LS1/T56, harnes, pcm, interior and a whole bunch of other stuff.
At the rate that I'm going I migh end up with a well built 2nd gen for about $10k when I'm done, hopeing atleast, lol.

go with the 2010 Camaro SS it has the LS3!! everyone here that doesn't have a LS3 wouldn't mind having one!! You will be at the 500+rwhp easy!! heads, cam and supporting mods!! thinking about it i dont think you need heads just have those one ported!! because those heads flow very good!!

Another thing to remember with a G-body vs an '05 GTO/'10 SS is the "old car problem" factor. The newest G-body is 22 years old, so even with a full LSx drivetrain conversion you've still got a bunch of old parts that will need to be replaced if you want the car to drive it's best. Suspension will likely be worn, as will brakes. Not to mention the possibility of restoration being needed if you want a nice looking interior/exterior (rust repair would be the biggest concern, if you live in an area where rust is a problem).
You can still find very nice condition G-bodies that wouldn't need much (if any) cosmetic restoration, but people don't just give them away; it's a somewhat popular platform for enthusiasts and nice ones will cost a bit.

Personally I would go with the GTO or new SS if its between that and a G body. Old school to me would be 60s muscle. If i were in your position i would look for a 67-73 Camaro or a Nova or a Chevelle or something along those lines. I just think the old muscle is way cooler than the 80s muscle.
