Talking 10 bolt!!!

What are the chances of me blowing the 10 bolt at the track with Nitto 555r Extreme Drags. with a slip/dump style launch in the 2500-3000rpm range.

i assume the chances are pretty good since a buddy of mine blew his rear out on the street with a good set of tires

50/50 ??? It really all depends. If you hook, it will go BOOM. If you spin you will probably be alright.

I did probably 5-6 passes on my 10 bolt with nitto 555's. Launching around 2200 rpms. Although I spun pretty good.

Put the Nitto's @ 20psi so they give a little and your rear should make it.

Thats how i race on the street i never dump the clutch. but i have absolutely no traction on street tires. I just say slip/ dump because i slip it to take off and then floor it and there goes the rubber LOL

Since I bought my SS I have been running the 555rs with plenty of track passes on my 10 bolt. I do have 3.73s though but that doesnt make it stronger. Dont dump the clutch though, that will prolly break something. I just slip the clutch, as high as 4500 if the track is well prepped. So as long as you launch it right the chances of breaking the 10 bolt are pretty low with 555rs but much higher with a good launch on some slicks or MT ET street DRs. I heard guys getting deep in the 10s though with the 10 bolts too.

not trying to be an ***, but i usually let air out to gain traction. So in my case would make it more likely to hook good and break the rear end. LOL

They dont prep the track at indy for test and tune nights. SO 4500 might be doable. Also know of any vids of people runnings 10's on stock 10bolt i would love to see that. Also what size 555r's you running. I will be running 315/35/17's

No one can tell you your chances. It might pop, it might not... simple as that. There are things you can do to reduce the chances of it, but there is no guarantee. I made around 100 passes on my 10 bolt with ET Streets doing a quick slip at around 6k and didnt have any issue. Then it popped while making a 1-2 shift on the street. You just never know.

Thats correct, the 10 bolt is considered the weak link in our drivelines so it could go any time. They still can take a good amount of abuse too. As hard as I have launched mine it has held up pretty good so far & I do believe slipping the clutch properly is one of the reasons.

Im sure i'll be fine in the 2-3k range slipping the clutch. Like i said they dont prep the track so that will help a lil bit
