Default Opinions on Taylor Plug Wires for LS1?

I had taylor wires on my LT1 many years a go, and they seem to held up just fine. But since LS1 is a different animal, what do you guys think?

MSD or Taylor wires for stock LS1? I will be using TR5 plugs.

Thanks,

Sid.

I had MSDs and had one fail, so I tried out the Taylors. So far so good, bout 5k on them right now. Either one will probably work fine for you, its kind of preference more than anything.

i personally don't like the msd ones, they seem to break when you take them back off to change plugs or what not. i think they are less expensive though. Both my cars have taylor 10.4mm wires now.

I've got a Comp Cams set on mine right now. Wound up melting one of the wires because of the headers, shot them an email, and they had one overnighted to me that afternoon.

I had one of my Taylors come right out of the boot and
crimped end, and a few others were loose. Pretty inferior
construction compared to MSD. I run LS2 GM wires now
because they fit better with my headers, the MSD had
"ears" that were getting burnt.

Thumbs down for Taylor.

That's the problem, I am not sure if there's anything wrong with mine. I bought my car a month ago, it has 45k miles and it's a 99. So 11 years old is the only reason I want to change them, or should I?

I know I will change the plugs for sure though. Just want to keep up with the maintenance.

my msd's where on the car when i got it and after the first plug change the where loose and would come off to easy and i even tryedsqueezing them with a pliers a little but no luck.
honestly i dont think any aftermarket wires do anything and even less so with out shorts wires.

after the problem with the msd's i couldent get a new set quick enough(i live in a small town and i had an appt to get my car tuned later on the evening) so i just got some duralast wires for 20 bucks and they have been fine and my lt's havent melted them yet.

Ive used Stock, MSD and Taylor.
I think the more careful you are with them the longer they last. I used dialectric grease on both the coil pack end and the plug end and havent had any issues. Im not new to plug wires breaking or tearing their guts out, I guess I have just learned to be careful over the years.
Also I break them free by twisting them before starting to pull back on them.
They can be a hassle, especially for as much as they charge for em.
Hope this helps,

I can, maybe twice. This was in the 99 GTP I had. After I replaced the engine & reinstalled the MSDs it had a terrible miss. I replaced the wires with stock ones & the miss went away. The wires were less than 3 yrs old with under 30k on them. They look cool but not any better than stock wires IMO with a terrible warranty (1 yr). I got the Taylor 10.4s on my SS, we will see how they hold up.

i've had 2 sets of MSD's on mine, still running the 2nd, and have put MSD's on a friends car who hasn't had a problem yet. one of the boots was laying on a header primary and it didn't melt but it dried it out to where it started cracking. that was my fault for not noticing it sooner though. i used wire covers on the set i have now and haven't had a problem. they're not cheap but i'd highly recomend getting a set of wire covers from the parts store to make them last. they don't snap on as positively as i'd like, but they seem to work just fine. i might try a set of taylors next. i think the main thing is to use plenty of dielectric grease on both ends and they won't be as hard to take off/put on and that's what causes most people to break them.
