doughnuts and loss of power steering?
So i decided it would be fun to do doughnuts in the bird today. I did three or four, had fun, and when I pulled away, it seemed as if my power steering was not working. At a halt or low speed it seemed as if I had NO power steering. At speeds greater than 35 mph it seemed as if nothing was wrong. I drove about 10 minutes to my destination, waited an hour, got back in the car, same issue. I drove about 10 more minutes to my next destination then as I was parking, the tension on my steering wheel seemed to release and then my power steering was back to normal. Any suggestions or explanations? Thanks

When you do donuts you're probably turning the steering to the stop and screwing the pump up.
It's like parking, etc, you don't turn it so hard the pump whines constantly, you might hit the stop and hear it whine but you don't continue to yank on it.
But when doing donuts you can't hear it and might be paying more attention to turning.
Thats my opinion.

Sounds like the weak pump that we have. It's not quite designed to be used for "race" applications. I know this wasn't race, but turning higher RPM's and using the steering has a tendency to boil the fluid. It happened to me all the time when we would take our canyon carving runs up into the mountains. We'd stop at the top and my steering was non existent.
Add a cooler and swap the fluid out to a synthetic. (even tho I've still boiled the synthetic fluid)
