After a decent amount of homework and tossing ideas back and forth, I finally have my project underway on my '00 Vette (M6 trans). As I've worked on a number of engines before, this is the 1st time working on an LS and I'm a little excited about it. Now, I'm not doing anything unheard of, new or exciting nor building a "blowout-your-brains" power wagon, but just a basic heads/cam swap along with a few extra goodies. I decided to keep the car, what I consider a cruising friendly, well mannered, mild street car.
So to cut to the chase and share what's included in the build: PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads w/63cc chambers, 2.02/1.57 valves & PRC .675 lift dual springs, TSP Torquer v.3 cam (231/234 .643/.598 on 112 LSA), LS2 timing chain, ported LS6 oil pump, LS7 lifters, TSP hardened pushrods, Comp cams rocker arm trunion kit, LS6 pcv conversion, LS6 intake, CAI, LS7 clutch kit w/ LS6 hyraulics, TSP full length headers & 3" X-pipe ceramic coated (keeping stock axleback), '09 ZR1 style wheels, dyno tune by Speed Inc. Car has the M6 and 3.42 gears. Will swap to 3.90 gears in the future.

That combo should run nice. I'm in a similar situation as I newly aquired a 03
C5 before Christmas and only haven driven it home I decided it needed an
EPS bumpstick and I'm massaging the 241 heads since only 15 k miles, m6 also
Car was owned by a woman in Glen Ellen,Ill who only added a Corsa pacecar
X and axleback and the 1-4skip shift plug....like you waiting for the weather
to break and I'll probably get a tune, not sure about headers yet
Good luck w/ your setup and please keep us posted on numbers

Finally got all my parts in a couple weeks ago.
After the heads came off I noticed the damage of over-revving the engine via accidentally shifting into 2nd gear instead of 4th at too high of a mph. The result is bent pushrods, bent valves and knicks in the pistons where the valves came in contact with them.
The LS7 clutch is now installed, rearend bolted back up and rear wheels back on. As intimidating as it seemed taking the whole rearend out of the car before I started to swap the clutch, it was actually much easier than expected. And that LS7 clutch feels real nice. Soft pedal feel just like the old stock LS1 clutch. I have to say, so far this car is easy as pie to work on.

Glad to see things are moving along well....I'm not doing nearly as much as
you are. Got the whole top of my engine off and I'm working on the rack
removal now to get at the balancer....fun stuff![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
I'll be visiting Speed Inc. also when done for the dyno tune....any H.P. goals
for yours yet ?

Put the shifter back in and butttoned up the interior last night. Also removed the balancer and timing cover.
Well I was going to be happy with 400rwhp but people say I'll have much more then that. Like closer to 450rwhp.

Mendota is 50 miles straight south of Rockford on I-39. I use to run my old '89 notchback 5.0 at Byron back in the day. I'm sure I'll take the Vette over to Byron and/or Cordova for some test and tune. I also hit up Joliet and Cordova from time to time for events.

The MN6 transmission comes stock on all manual C5 Coupes and FRCs. The M12 was exclusive to the Z06. Do you have a Z and performed a MN6 swap?
I've heard some people switching out their MN12 so they can utilize 1st and 2nd gears better. I believe both units are identical in terms of strength but offer slightly different gearing ratios.

Yes, gear ratios are quite different between the MN6 and M12. The MN6 with 3.90 gears is comparable to the M12 with 3.42 gears.
Really don't have a timeframe. I'm taking my time and working on it here and there when I get the chances. I have to fit Vette time in with a full time job and the every day routine. But from the way it's looking I'm hoping to have it going to the dyno by the end of May. Keeping my fingers crossed.. lol
