Default New 2012 Camaro ZL1 Weight

Does anybody have an idea of what the weight of the new ZL1 camaro will be? I've heard a lot of guesses range from the Camaro SS weight of 3869, to over 4000 lbs, some saying 4300 or so. I'm loving everything about this car so far, only thing that I'm worried about is how much it is going to weigh. I know they are doing things to cut back on weight, but how much do you think they are going to do? I'm hoping they didn't mention all their weight reduction measures yet. The weight of this thing will make it or break it for me. If it's 4000 pounds or more, not gonna get it. I'm hoping for 3800 pounds or so but maybe I'm being a little too optimistic. Honestly, I'd rather have the ZL1 weigh between 3700-3850 pounds then it have 570 plus horsepower than I hear many are hoping for. I think the weight would make a much bigger difference.

What do you guys think? Anybody have any "inside info" on what the weight may be?

If it comes in under 4000 we will be lucky. Your 3700-3850 is lower than the current SS. You and I both know that is not going to happen.

On ultimate Factory's, they did a show on the Camaro plant and stated that the SS weighs 3800lbs.

That would be great, but doesn't the 2011 GT500 weigh 3800 pounds?

I just heard they are also releasing a Z/28 type car that is supposed to have big handling impovements and a possible LS7. That would be pretty bad ***, not sure if they are shaving any weight on it.

Adding extra hp then adding weight is pointless. If GM can keep the weight of the vette under 3400lbs why can they do it to the ZL1? Let me guess money!

I'm gonna take a gander and say it'll be heavier than a tricycle, and lighter than a Huey.

lol, I sure hope they don't add anymore weight over the SS. I don't see how thats possible w/o tacking on some expenses.

...All these new cars are starting to make me think my catfish is on the lighter side!

I test drove a 2010 SS the other day and decided although they look sexy outside driving them i have bigger blind spots then in my semi.. No amount of hp and handling is going to fix my utter dissapointment of this body style. So, I thought I wanted a zl1 but I think I'll take a ctsv coupe instead... Anyone know if the blindspot prob is as bad on those as I haven't test driven one yet??

Sorry for the massive almost run inn sentence.. I'm using my phone to post.

My understanding is the Ford is lighter NOW because it has yet to adhere
to the Federal gov't mandated rollover safety standards where-as the Cam
is already @ or exceeding those guidelines.....so the Stang will get FAT soon
regardless of power adder or suspension upgrades.........
I would think G.M. will eventually perfect the variable valve timing and soon
add direct injection to the LS engine family...... i mean think about it a cam
that makes RV like torque and RACE engine like horsepower along with
optimized fuel mixture independent of port-speed or runner velocity
Technology continues to enhance.....till then we speculate

I've heard the CTS-V has some big blind spots as well. Not sure if its as bad as the camaro, but I have heard complaints

That new blower adds plenty of weight, and it comes with wider tires I believe. There's 2 things right off the bat to add a nice chunk of meat to it. We will be extremely lucky if it came out weighing what the current SS weighs.
