How far does a full tank get you?
Just a thread to see how far a full tank gets everyone, and their average MPG's, want to do a little comparing.
My driving is mixed, 60% highway and 40% city. By 80 miles I am at 3/4 tank, by 160 I'm at half. So I guess I get about 320 miles to a tank with combined city/highway driving. I get right around 400 or a little more when it's all highway driving.
I've averaged out my MPG's, with the mixed highway and city driving I get about 21MPG. Average MPG's in town alone is 16-17MPG, average MPG's on highway is 25-26. Although one time, when going 55 for 100 miles I got 29.8 MPG on the highway.

Lots of threads on this.. as stated. But I have to point out that 160 for half tank isn't 320, the first half goes much slower then the second half. I've only gotten over 300miles to the tank on the highway.

287 miles. 75% highway. I drove 15 miles after the light came on. That was back when I had 4.10s. I have moved down to 3.73s. Car is no longer a DD. I now go close to 400 with a 13 gal tank in my versa.

man you guys are lucky. I get 200-250 and I normally put 13 gallons in. I do mainly stop and go city driving with a 1/3rd of the drive highway. If it wasn't for that stretch of highway I'd guess my numbers would be way lower. 60# injectors, dual fuel pumps, voltage booster, 3800 stalled auto's and 3.55's and a yearning for incurable speed cravings keepy my total avg. between highway and city around 16-18. If I stay out of it and dont get into boost once it will avg. almost 20 between highway and city. All city I get 15mpg. Highway I get 22-23. I can deal with 16-18mpg and being able to run mid 6's in the 1/8th and low low 10's in the 1/4.
Pick any two:
Cheap
Fast
Reliable
Good luck! BTW I wouldn't add up how much you've spent on mods or gas mileage, it gets kinda bitter tasting after a while until you stomp that loud pedal again!

Then you also have to count the 2-3 gallon reserve that your car has, even after it says low fuel.

These threads get so ridiculous. I've seen ppl claim anywhere from ~10-35+ mpg. Its hard to compare, there are too many variables. Quite honestly I dont even believe half the posts in some of those threads.

yeah, the tradeoff for more speed is usually lower fuel economy. I'd like to get my car to full bolt on's with a stall some day, but only after I get a 4 cylinder as my DD and make the Camaro my Sunday driver. Right now it's my DD, so it has to be as good on fuel as possible.
With just 243's and an LS6 intake for mods my car got 368 miles to a tank of gas all highway driving! And that was thru the mountains.
The same drive with the same car, with stock heads and intake netted me about 320 miles to the tank.
Mods that will make a car more effecient will actually improve gas mileage.

You'd think that, but not always!

But chiefly, a stall and a cam which increase power the most would also hurt fuel economy the most. Granted, there are some mods that will give you power and fuel economy. I already have the LS6 intake though.

Lately I've been seeing 1/2 tank right about 160 miles too, and I fill up between 270 and 280 miles. At that point it's nearing 1/8th, and I don't like to run it lower than that. A few more miles and the fuel light comes on.
IMO miles per tank is irrelevent, as everyone fills up at different times. Some guys won't let it get below 1/4, others run it till the light comes on or even after that.
It's all about the calculated mpg's.
