Default Info on F-body pans

I tried asking in another section , but can't seem to get any answers , so I will try here .

I have been looking at used pans for my jetboat project , and I gotta say I am stumped . I have been told that a F body pan will work for what I am doing , so I have been watching the classified section for pans . What I really want to know is why everone with a used Camaro pan is asking more for it than a new one ? I can order the pan new with pickup , gasket , and bolts for $222 with free shipping . Most of the used pans I see people are asking $250 for them . Is there something better about the factory Camaro pan that I don't know about ? I guess people can sell thier parts for whatever they want to , but I just don't get why the used ones would be worth more than the new ones ?

The used ones you are looking at proubly has the correct oil pump pick up tube and windage tray to go with it.

I would make sure you get a pan that is baffled, to keep the oil around the pick up.

Have you looked into a truck oil pan?

I have a truck pan , it will not work in my jetboat .

The new pan is $187 for the pan and gasket , Or $222 when you add the pickup to the order . Orders over $199 ship free . The pan is baffled and does come with the oil level sensor . Not sure what else could be different .

I will post the info for where I can get the new pan , but its on my computer at work and I am not going to be there till tomarrow . I guess peoples used parts are thiers and they can ask whatever they want for them , I just dont see why the people buyung them are willing to pay so much for a used part .

Well not sure if your boat was built for a gen II small block but if so I think a muscle car type conversion oil pan would work. Just a guess, but maybe something to check into.

The boat was actually built for a big block originally . I have looked at the muscle car pan , but it holds a quart less oil and is not really very much cheaper than the f-body pan . It saves about $70 total to use the other pan, but it is worth it to me to be able to run the extra oil .
