Default F my life. RIP Icarus... Another 98 SS totaled...

So... lost control of the car last night randomly as I going down a hill covered in water thanks to the downpour we've been experiencing the last 2 days.. Car whipped around, touched in to another car, went in to a ditch only to go mid air spinning after hitting a light pole at 40 mph... Only to figure out that Comp insurance doesn't cover hydroplaning... Just hail, flood, fire, tornados, and deer... You know... all the other stuff you can't control...

Wonderful.

However, I'll be opening a FS thread if you'd like to help me out. Lord knows the car puts down some power thanks to some Quality parts that weren't cheap :/

*sigh*

Insurance should cover. Liability should cover it especially considering that you hit another car. Liability covers at fault accidents, and this should qualify.

From what I understand, comprehensive covers **** you can't control, such as deer, volcanos, flying cows...etc. collision insurance covers what happened. That's how it works on my policy here in Ohio anyways, may be different in other states.

I dont think basic coverage (liability) would cover this. **** happens, and it may not be 100% your fault, but they would most likely argue you were weren't driving accordingly for road conditions.

Black ice and hydroplaning sucks, especially black ice, but I just doubt they'll cover it. Good luck though man! Glad you're alright.

Liability is mainly for covering other peoples cars and property that you may hit. If you only have liability and you would have hit another car, your insurance would pay for their damage but not your car. Although it sucks with hitting a patch of water or ice and its not 100% your fault; according to most insurance companies you are still at fault to a degree. Where as with fire or flood its out of your control 100%.

liability covers the stuff you hit
collision covers your stuff when you hit other stuff
comp covers your stuff when stuff you can't control hits you

I carry collision on any nicer vehicles. My old Camaro and previous beater, no I did not, but I do on my Trailblazer and will on my next Camaro as they are worth covering.

That totally sucks! What kind of insurance do you have? I'm assuming just liability/comp and no collision?

A very good summary.

If the OP has collision coverage, then this incident would be covered. But that still doesn't change how much it sucks.
