Default ls1 to 5.3. do they share the same oil pump and timing cover?

Swapping a 5.3 on my ws6 and stripping down the ls1. I know Ill be using all the front accessory as well as my crank pulley. Ill also be using the fbody pick up and oil pan w/ the oil dip stick.

but what about the oil pump or timing cover/chain and all? can I just use the 5.3?

What 5.3 is it? Gen 3 will, Gen 4 and up are a little different.

Does it have knock sensors in the valley cover?

I think that's a year that GM started switching over to Gen IV everything, so you could have either one depending on what the engine came out of. If it is a Gen IV, make sure you don't have a 58x reluctor on the crank.

If the knock sensors are in the valley cover, then it is a Gen III block and you are good to go. All Gen III engines are 24x. Not all Gen IV engines are 58x.

You can.

You can also replace them since you are in there. Your call.

Also, you can keep those things regardless of Gen III or Gen IV. There are other things that would need to be done if you had a Gen IV motor, but since you don't, happy motoring.

Awesome thank you.

Ya I'll be keeping them but I'll be porting the oil pump before I put it in the car.
Engine has 36k really Clean. Came out of a show truck.

Thanks again for the info.

yes lm7.

I already started the swap over. aside from alternator mount hole(which i will relocate anyways) everything seems like a bolt and go so far.
