Default LQ4 6.0 Good Foundation?

Looking at one out of a 01 Silverado that is complete for a swap into my 2nd gen T/A pro-touring type of build.
What is the general thought on this motor?
I would definitely want to increase power and mate up a 6 speed.

are you planning on leaving the 6.0 stock and just drop it in or do bolt on upgrades like heads cam intake? or go full out with all new internals

I have a lq4 in my '99 WS6. It was pulled from a 03 Suburban. Stock bottom end with 799 heads, Vengeance Racing VRX5 .601/.605 236/238 camshaft, LS6 intake, 1-7/8 headers and 3" true dual exhaust. Made 400/382 rwhp/tq. If I had 36lb injectors in it, it would make more power, still on the stock LS6 28lb injectors. So bigger injectors and mill heads some for more compression. I'm currently building a LS3 for it and plan on swapping this engine into my 1980 Pontiac Firebird.

OP I think your gonna find if you look around here some the 6.0L is very popular for swaps on any style car from mild to Wild builds.

I would not leave it stock, I would do heads and cam at least.
The particular motor I was looking at was sold before I got to it.

You have an engine with lots of possibilities. Decide what you want to do then build it. I'd bore it and slap on a set of LS3 heads and a better cam. Have fun.

6.0 Can be a budget build 408.

Exactly.... I do like the idea of the 408! I've been researching some on it.

Are you AX'ing your "pro-touring" build?
You may want to look for an aluminum block for the weight savings

I have weighed the option of aluminum but I figure the weight is negligible for my intentions really
