LM7 cylinder walls

So i have a 5.3 ls its a naked block right now and i want to do new piston rings, i have a plan to hone the cylinders with a deglazer honer tool not the ball honer, and i was reading that you have to get a bigger pistion? can anyone please help me out here thank you

Man, a lot going on here.
what condition are your bores in? any reason why you need new rings? If you are asking these questions, you might want to leave this kind of stuff to professionals to get the best results.

Gotcha. Unless you're going to take off a bunch of material, which is *highly* unlikely with a hone or deglazer, you should be able to get your bores cleaned up and then measure the dimensions and order the correct sized rings. Again, unlikely you would need different sized pistons.

Sick thanks man i just learning as i go i thought i would come here and ask i jus saw others doing this and were like taking a bunch of material off i was think just like 3-4 quick strokes through the cyl walls and then messure what would i messure with?

To do it correctly you would use a dial bore gauge, tons of different brands and prices based on those brands.
Search the site by using google. I typed in "honing cylinder walls piston rings ls1tech" that will only find links on LS1tech with those search parameters.

If it's a 5.3, the bore is 3.78". You cannot do an oversized bore with a ball hone. The cylinders will never be round and probably be tapered. You can take it to a machine shop and have them do a .005 cleanup bore, but you will need new pistons. If you are just trying to get it running, hone it, get new rings and crank it.
