I'm curious to see what brand gasoline everyone uses. I've seen threads for oil, mpg, octane, etc. But nothing for brand of gasoline.

I've heard some say that Sunoco or Shell is the best for their detergent properties and I've heard some say it doesn't matter what brand you use.

What do you think?

I highly doubt it matters. Sure, some people are going to nitpick and come up with overly complicated reasons for picking fuel, but in all likelihood it won't add up to anything quantifiable. Get the cheapest premium gas at a reasonable distance if you are worried about gas hurting your engine.

I use LukOil 93 octane (used to be Mobil) until they bought out every damn mobil station in New Jersey)

I get my gas at the same station at the same pump for every vehicle I own LOL. The reason is N.J. don't let you pump your own gas but I've gotten friendly with the turbins and they just wave and say "Hey Boss" (probably the only 2 english words they know) and let me do it myself.

It really funny watching other people watch me pump the gas and try to do it themsevles and you can tell they never done it, their like "where the F*** does this nozzle go!"

That's funny.. I'm originally from New Jersey (north).. now when I'm up that way I get really annoyed when I can't pump my own gas.

Mobil here. I voted Exxon because it's one in the same.

I used to use Amoco (now BP), but after testing Amoco vs Shell vs Mobil, I seem to get slightly better MPG using Mobil. I guess that could be due to a lot of factors, but either way I just stick with Mobil now.

In general finding a top tier brand station with clean tanks and dispensers will make more of a difference then the brand itself. Newer stations have newer tanks. This means less build up/sludge on the sides of the tank. The pump for each grade of fuel is inside the tank itself and most of the gas stations and companies just replace the filters constantly rather than clean out the tanks.

These days as more and more states are requiring ethanol blended fuel a lot of the old build up from older stations is being broken up off the tank walls and getting into the gas. While there is a screen on the pump in the tank and filters at the dispensers the gas has still sat in the mess and dissolved some of it for some time. Best analogy I got is you run muddy water through these filters your still going to get brown water.

In answer to your question I use Chevron, mainly because there is a new station right near my house. On the average I get 40 to 50 miles to the tank more using the new station than I did using the Shell station that's been there for more than a decade.

i'd use soley bp if i could (only run bp in my dirtbike).. problem is closest ones about 30 or so mins away. i have been going to riggins alot though ( used to be an exxon station) before + now it was the cheapest +best gas in my area. there is a a super wawa across the street but gf who used to work there told me they use 10% ethanol. dunno if the riggens does to but atleast its not for sure that they do.

lol i know what you mean. i've never had to pump my own gas but once. i was in PA and sat at the pump for like a minute and waited for someone to come. "D'OH!". yea, self serve! lol

so i go inside the mini-mart to pay 25 dollars worth of gas at pump #X and i get outside and have to think for a minute how to get it started. i felt stupid.

back on topic....

i've only used sunoco but 3 or 4 times in the past 3 years because they were either out of gas or i was in an unfamiliar area and needed gas ASAP. i'm trying to break this habit. i've been paying $3.15 at sunoco for 91 octane but today, a BP station is down to $3.11 for 93 octane so i may hit that up on the way home if i can find the strength to get off sunoco's nuts.

plus, i just got my new 5% discount cas card so i'll be paying ~$2.95 for 93 octane i can't believe this sounds like a deal

i had NO idea that there were still places where this was the case. i've traveled a lot, but spent my entire life living in TX and i've NEVER seen a gas station that wasn't self serve. ya learn something new everyday, how weird.

out of curiousity, why is it that they don't want people pumping their own gas there?
