Unhappy Just Lost a T-Top

Man, I was going about 90 and my T-top flew off about ten minutes ago. It was unlocked. Hurts so bad. I would rather my body be hurt since it will heal. This takes money, and I have none. Its going to be raining on and off for the next few days, maybe a week. Now what? No car. God, I feel sick to my stomatch.

Don't normally post this stuff, just had to vent this pain.

Sorry to hear that. I almost lost one too, I was shampooing the car and since I needed the room I set the Ts on the grass next to the drive way. When I was done I left it to dry and my wife decided to move it out of the way. The T stopped the car from rolling but amazingly only scratched up the plastic. I know how you feel I felt it for atleast 5 seconds, SUCKS!!! Gluck!

that sucks check ebay! They are always on there. For around 100-200. Its worth it. I can not imagine how much it would cost from the dealer. Could you go through your insurance comapy and make a claim? I know they usually cover glass and stuff. It's worth a shot. Best of luck man!

the thing that sucks the most is now your key will never work in it i would see if you can just get the glass replaced in it so your key will still work if you still have the t-top.

Well i had the same thing happen earlier this year. I totally freaked out. The insurance wouldnt cover the t-top. They would only cover it if i paid the deductable witch is like 500 bucks. So luckily I found one the same day at a local junk yard for a 125 bucks. I cleaned it up a bit and it looks brand new.

I left the twisted mess along the road. I've never locked them before. Don't have $100. Won't for oh, a month. Just got a clutch, intake, headers, Y and cutouts, and got them installed 289 miles ago. The install cost ~$700 more than I thought (long story, but I'll not go back). So, I' sitting here with $300 and more than that in bills that will be due in a few days. Next check not here till Wednesday, and that one goes to my overdraft and bills. So, I'm fucked.

i feel your pain man, same thing happened to me last year had the window open about 1/2 inch hit about 80 and bam it was gone. i almost kept goin but i stoped to pick it back up. im glad i did because when i got my other one from a junk yard, i was able to switch the lock from my old one to my new one. it cost me 135 for that one. just drive around with the other one off, and no one will know the difference. thats what i did for a little while, ut people probably thought i was wierd because it was like 50 degrees out.

when he said locked i believe he meant the handle wasnt latched, atleast thats what happened to my car.

When it happened to me, my wife had the presence of mind to tell me to go back and get it. See if you can find it. You can salvage the lock cylinder and the plastic molding from it.

Same here...I can fit my key in them (the door key), but it won't turn worth anything. So basically my T-Tops are never locked.

Did the handle open up, causing the glass panel to fly off??

Do what I did, go to you rinsurance company and tell them that you were driving and a dump truck full of gravel was in front of you on the highway and a huge rock kicked up and hit the t-top causing it to spider web and it got sucked out. They bought it and had a new t-top for me the next day with no charge.

He def means unlatched. I had it happen to me on the highway. I had them off at the mall and threw them on before going in, but didnt latch them because i was planning on taking them off on the ride home. It started to rain so I didnt take them off and forgot about it. 85 MPH on the highway and it flew out and smashed on the side of the road.

just take the new ttop to a lock smith and they can re-core it to fit your keys, costs about 20 bucks for both ttops. thats what im going to have to do after i do my ttop conversion.
