i keep an open mind. I respect all cars, if they are faster or slower. No reason to hate. Anybody who tried to gun it around me is a moron though...it brings unecessary attention to me and that person..something i don't need.

+1.

Im the same way. Although I'll admit Ive never questioned whether a civic was going to beat me. If they're fast(er) (IE: turbo) they will let you know. Thats when I start wondering.

Ditto what Brandon said. My son has a '00 Civic SI with a turbo and some other mods. Last pass was mid 11's. He bought the car while still in high school and started tinkering with it. I watched all of the effort he has put into it (did all the mods himself) and now it has paid off with a fast reliable car that still gets 30 mpg. I have an '02 WS6 that would take a whole lot more money to get that fast. But, I am an LS1 guy, so everyone has their own tastes. Anyone who says they hate imports have probably had their feelings hurt by one. You may hate 'em, but it does not cost a lot of money to make them fast.

I dont agree with the statement made about ls1s needing more money to run 11s. You could install a nitrous kit and run 11s all day. I did when my car was stocker. Nitrous, bfg drags radial, exhaust for sound and ran 11.5. Later that summer i took it on an 18 hour trip and got 29mpgs.

No way is it cheaper mod for mod to make any Civic run reliable 11s than an LS1. Period.

PS. I don't hate asian imports, but I don't like them either. I spent 6 years driving a Toyota as a daily driver. I never really liked it, I don't miss it, and I would never do it again.

I feel bad for the people who actually have nice imports. There's so many morons with fart cans and wings on their cruddy import cars (as well as on Cavaliers and the like) who tout Honda and Toyota as being light-years ahead of America while running in a 16 second car that they honestly believe would beat me. They ruin it for the nice ones.

I certainly agree that there are a lot of morons out there with the big wings, sound like crap, and run in the 16's, and think the imports are way ahead of the American made cars. It makes one wonder how primer gray can come in that many shades. It is fun to mess with them. However, there are a lot of kids who do it right and deserve respect. But, 29 mpg from an LS1? I have owned three, and never came close to that. How did you manage such good mileage? Teach an old dog a new trick here.

Stock engine with exhaust and a six speed with stock gears. 70 mph at about 1700rpms. Its not that crazy if you look at it that way. There have to be other m6 guys here that want to chim in.

There you go old dog. Were your car auto or m6, makes a world of difference. I converted mine to auto with a 4k stall and said good bye to mpg.

That might be true, but it doesn't change the fact that mod for mod the LS1 will always be faster than a Civic. No two ways about that. You're starting off with so much more power in the LS1 that just catching up to stock LS1 power levels with a Civic (and building the rest of the car to handle the power) will cost a decent amount of $$$.

I have had both M6 and A4, best I have gotten was 25mpg with the SS (M6). Got 23 with the Vette (A4), and the wife currently gets 19 (A4) in her WS6. Guess we drive them a little harder than most.
