My car has been totaled and I'm going to buy it back from the insurance company. How much do you think the car is worth as is (salvage certificate)? Or would it be better for me to part it out.
What needs fixin':
Slight frame damage... estimate was $336 to fix it.
Front bumper
Bumper support
Radiator support
Hood
Fender (Inner and outer)
2x Fog lights
Left rail assembly
Headlight assembly

The estimate they did came up to $10.1k, with $7.4k being parts. Looking at Fred Beans, I can get the parts (-GM WS6 hood, +VFN WS9 hood) for about $4.5k. The biggest part, expense wise (other than the hood) was the rail assembly ($1081) and the apron assembly ($607) and apron reinforcement ($283).

buy it, and fix it over the winter. I've seen cars hit a lot worse than that get fixed and they were mint. Buy a whole nose, cut through the t tops. That way you will have all GM parts to start with and no aftermarket junk. You'll be happier in the long run with the T/A if you wanted an RX7 you probably would have bought one in the first place. Just my two cents though, good luck

if you plan to keep it, buy it back and fix it. if you are not sure if your going to keep it then i would let it go. de mod it and let it go. but for the love of God, dont let the insuance company take it without demodding it, they arent giving you anything for all them mods.

I would keep it for that price you could sell the motor and trans for more than that. the GM ram air hoods are high priced just buy a slp hood ( 850 )or a hard wood hood ( 500 ) they are cheaper than the $1600 hood from gm

I would keep it and fix it. Thats light damage. Did the bags even go off? If the bags didnt go id definately fix it. You can always buy used parts a lot cheaper, not everything has to be bought new through GM. But I wouldnt cut the front clip off. Its not nearly damaged enough for that. Buy the parts you need, take it to a good shop with a laser frame rack and make sure to get the frame as good as new and you will have a sweet car again.

Not as simple as "fix it and keep it" you will still need to apply for a reconstructed title to get it registered again and in most states it is not easy and will take a great deal of time. I had a guy who does it all the time help me do mine and it still took 5 months with forms, documentation and pictures going back and forth all winter. It can be done and is probably worth it in your case but don't just assume you can slap some parts on and you're back on the road....

In texas and louisana a salvage title is not problem. It takes two forms that I know for sure of in texas bc my car had a salvage title. All they're after is the money. Just have to keep receipts and vin numbers from donors or receipt only if all the parts are new. The form is a vtr--- here in texas
