will they total my car?
Yesterday around 4 P.M. i was headed home and a deer ran out of the woods and slammed into the side of my car.. looks like i need a new front bumper, front quarter panel, front driver wheel, driver side door won't open and needs to be repainted, mirror needs to be repainted, driver side mirror is broken, turn signal and fog lamp, also the door is probably going to have to be painted, and all the plastic underneath the car replaced.... insurance guy is coming to look at it sometime today b/c it was too late yesterday.. and the local police told me they would not take a call involving a deer.... just wondering what i should expect on an estimate or maybe they will total it?? its a 2002 red ws-6 with about 73,000 miles on it..

Doesn't sound like enough damage to total the car. I think to total it, you need to do damage of at least 3/4 what the car is worth, but I could be wrong. You are looking at a couple grand, but certainly not enough to total the car.

When I worked at a shop they were a direct repair place for State Farm. They said when the estimate gets up to 50% of the value of the car a adjuster comes and looks at the car. Then the adjuster will check the damage and see if they deem it ok to fix or total it. Also State Farm was cool if you had to put the car on the frame machine if you used the clamps that hold the pinch welds under the car they would pay to repaint the rockers of the car. Other companys would not. They were picky with repairs, but it was cool they would pay you for alot more stuff then the other comanys.
