I removed it, it rattled, but reticently. I subjected it to a colon blow of carb cleaner and it rattles a bit better and a lot of crap came out. I am now going to wal-mart to get some Simple Green for my bathtub

Now why were you dealing with the PCV valve?

You should get a catch can, our PCV system is garbage and oil goes right past the valve like a hot knife through butter.

Peace,
Craig.

These things are about $4. Why not just get a new one?

New, old, whatever, its still garbage.

You still didn't answer my question, what made you deal with it, more so at 1am?

Peace,
Craig.

I never had any significant PCV oil sucking issues till after a cam install. When stock, it worked OK.

Well, I was thinking my idle issue may have ahd to do with the PCV (I dunno what caused it, lots of M6's have intermittant high idle from what I have found on search). Anyways, it had some crap in it and I cleaned it. Not much oil in it or the tubing though. Seems to be doing just fine. I have gone 1500 miles on GC and used 1/4-1/3qt MAYBE. Seems okay to me.

PS, no idle issues today. I did the idle re-learn proceedure and I think she is fixed

i've tried new, different, catch can, no PCV valve and i am getting a very loud whistle that comes and goes with RPM...

when i catch it at idle, pull the vacuum off of the intake, it stops, so i know it is related. i capped off the TB fresh air line going to the valve cover and took vacuum from there. i ran a hose from the driver side VC to the pass in the same spot as stock, only thing is, i eliminated the tee behind the intake. was that a mistake? should the TB still supply air....even so, why would that make a whistle sound? i would assume that means a restriction or leak....hELP!

hi there

im in Australia and have a MONARO (Pontiac GTO) with the LS1 engine....for the last few thousand miles, i have also started hearing this whistle sound from my engine!

The dealer said it was the alternator and it was normal for a high output alternator to do this under load. he put the lights on, and the whistle got noiser.....

Anyway - they supposedly replaced the alternator, and my noise is still there..im frustrated by it!

Any ideas?

Ive heard it could be Idler Pulley, Belts or even an air leak!
