I was just wondering how long your guys car have been undriveable, since you broke something or started a project that took a while to finish.
long story, broken stuff, 2.5 months and counting.

Car has been "down" for winter storage since the last weekend in October, '06. It will be back on the road in March or April depending on weather.

I blew my motor in the summer of 05, finally got the new one built and in the car in march 06. Then my trans went out and it was down for another couple weeks, put about 5000 miles on the new trans and it went out. Car has been broke since November.

I blew the tranny in my old Cutlass and it sat at the shop for about 2 months because they were so slow in finding one. And even that one was crappy and only lasted about a month and slipped the whole time. So it was there for another month and a half getting another new one after that.

The obvious answer for me is winter storage. It's down from Mid October till Mid April each year
But that's not what this thread is about
I got in an accident a few years ago and the car needed $5K worth of repairs and body work. A woman hit my passenger door and I needed a new door, hood, front fender, tire, rim, steering rack, caliper, ect.
My car was down for 2.5 months getting repaired and repainted

My firebird was down for three weeks. It blew a headgasket. However, if you added together all of the time that it has been broken over the past year that I've owned it, you would get the better part of 3 months.

my car has been sitting for most of the winter but it sat for about 2 weeks maybe, if that, when I broke the rear axle, LONG story but to be short, ice + z28 + curb = one bad day to say the least, but hey could have happened in any kind of car really.
