How many people keep their F-bod in the garage for the winter? What do you do for insurance on the car?

I've have mine in the garage all winter and i've been paying the insurance on it because homeowners wont cover the car incase of fire or anything like that.

Mine has been stored every winter since it was brand new. I would walk 10 miles in the cold and snow before I would even consider driving this car on a salt and slush covered road.

You don't have to keep full coverage on the car when it's in storage. Suspend all coverages except fire/theft/vandalism. It will be very cheap to insure for the winter then, and you won't be wasting money on liability and collision coverage for a car that won't be on the road.

I store mine, and am paying my full coverage, cause snow came late, and I'm hoping it leaves early.

3 days ago it was in the 30's, snow was melting, I started the Z up and was thinking---I'll be dirving it in no time. Then it snowed 5 inches, and its a blizzrd warning now...calling for 8-14 inches.....

I put mine away because I have no choice. I have a big hill that the car literally won't get up in a little snow. I did finally get it out and drive it for like 15 minutes yesterday . forgot the power it had.... couldn't floor it in first at any point. Broke the back wheels loose at any rpm and any speed in first . lol. Now its back in there and we're having snow and freezing rain.... ice storm....

That's what I did with mine. Except I'm still paying on mine, so for some reason I had to keep collision on mine. It's stored in a garage, but insurance said somebody might crash into my garage, so that wouldn't fall under vandalism. They said the bank needed to have collision year round. No biggie, it's still $12 a month for Fire/Theft/Vandalism/Collision while in storage.

Car is just sitting pretty for this winter, but I was using it last year. I take it out here and there but not too too far w/the crappy roads, so it's not really in "storage", I'm just not really using it. This winter is weird anyways, not much snow for us. Still paying full coverage.

mine gets driven on non rainy days and sometimes when the track is open but it has been awhile for that because it had been broken for 1 1/2 years. until i got back from iraq. i paid full coverage while deployed just so i had no worries. even though it was in a storage unit and broken.

Drop it down to comprehensive. If you're not driving it, and it's paid for, there is no reason to have liability or collision on it. That's what I do. I just activated the insurance on my cars last week, but they've been parked and covered with comprehensive only since late October.

The only caveat with my insurance company is that I can't change coverage on the car for at least a month.... So I stop coverage when I know I'm not gonna drive the car for a while.

mines been in storage since october '06 except for one day, I have storage insurance on consists of fire/theft/vandalism maybe some more, worked out to be 48 a month, way better then what I pay for full coverage, I'd recommend doing that, don't see it coming out of storage anytime soon we just got over a foot of snow here

The snow has got to go! Say it with me everyone. The snow has got to go!. Yeah, mine is in the garage too. 42 degrees and sunny today, now 90 percent chance of snow and low 30's. They've been promising us 40+ degree weather for the last 2 weeks and it keeps getting pushed back further and further. I am starting to loose faith in the weather channel or whatever little faith i have left.

Mine has been garage-kept during the Winter months ever since I bought my truck. I keep full-coverage on mine in the event that I would need to drive it in an emergency situation. I guess to me it's just peace of mind having it fully-covered.

I did pull it out of the garage on Friday (after being in there since December 24th), and let it warm up a bit in the driveway. Plus, I didn't want the neighbors to forget I still had it I think they enjoy getting woke up on the mornings I drive it to work

Mine sleeps most of the winter. However, I may occasionally drive it if there is no snow, precip, or salt on the road. Just to remind the car that I am still around. And I keep full coverage year round, it does not cost me that much anyway.

Mine has been in a heated storage building since november 1st. During the winter I drop collision on it and just keep comp on it until spring. I'm hopinf the weather gets better here pretty soon, we got 12" of snow last night. Now I have to go out and shovel it.

I wish I could store mine in a garage for the winter. I sold my house last year and my wife and I are living in a apartment till we find another home we want to purchase. So it just sits in the parking lot all winter.
