^^no, if you remember GM also rated the corvettes at 350 HP, its for marketing purposes, and as you know the ls1 powered camaros and firebirds were underrated as far as horsepower goes, they make basically the same power as the ls1 gto and corvettes.....but no on the cam thing. although 350 fwhp is much more acurate than 310 (z28 and trans am) 325 rwhp (ss and ws-6) ratings

yea, i know that under rating thing is true for the LT1 too. but i could've sworn i read somewhere that they changed the cam for the GTO.

well im wondering because i have a 98, but i blew the motor in it last week. With 2500 miles still on my warranty, the motor was replaced with a crate ls1 for a 2004 GTO, everything is new except for the intake (because of the stupid egr), exhaust manifolds, and oil pan...just wondering if this motor made a little more ponies than the 2002 f-body ls1's...I guess not though since i got the crappier flowing intake and manifolds...

I just worked on and drove an 04 GTO for the first time today. Considering I work at a Lexus dealer, I don't see to many . From what I could tell, there was not any difference except for the appearence of the motor. The GTO felt a little more slugish than my SS, but that's probably casue it was an Auto and IIRC the GTO weighs a bit more, but I could be wrong.

there's no difference from what i'm aware of as far as power's concerned, unless you got the ls1 intake instead of the ls6, and different belt system
