You will prolly find your answer debated 1000 times over if you searched
heres the deal..you have a rear end that was also in a S10 pickup ....165hp truck...your car has almost double that prolly soooooo common sense would say you will be playing russian rulette (spelling) if you went and bought slicks even when only launching from 2500r's
I personally know people who have pulled the front tires off the ground with a stcok 10bolt however last summer at route 66 i watched 3 camaros break driveshafts, my buddy broke his axle in his t/a, and another buddy of mine busted his diff in his SS.....these are all just bolt on cars with Nittos no slicks and they broke....so if you wanna go for it fine its your car but personally id be ready to replace SOMETHING ....axle, gears, diff...etc...

These guys are right....you can explode a rear diff. easily. Why launch at 2500 like that anyway? Put a little more trainin time in on how to launch your car correctly. You can stall the clutch and fuel correctly and it will pull out like a bullet and no wheel spin if you just stall the clutch correctly.

Your just going to bog the car down to 1000rpm after you launch on slicks and they dead hook. You wan't the tires to turn over a few times after launching, not gonna happen on slicks launching at 2.5 k rpms. Launch the car higher and be prepared for the rear end to eventually have probs, or stay on radials and slip the clutch a little.
