Default LS6/LS2 Set-up to Performance Questions

The LS6 is rated at about the same as the LS2.

My questions are as follows:

Why isn't the LS2 significantly more powerful?

They have nearly identical heads right, aren't they at comparable compression as well so shouldn't the extra .3 liters give it more power?

It has a larger TB, the LS6 benefits from a larger/ported TB so should shouldn't the LS2 make more power?

Doesn't the LS2 intake manifold flow ~the same as the LS2's?

Is the only reason the LS6 makes nearly the same power as the LS2 because of the camshaft?

Does the C5 Z06's exhaust/intake make up for the lower displacement?

These are honest questions and I didn't want to post this in the advanced performance tech question section so please no bench racer comments, I perfer to do those myself.

Also if anyone knows off the top of their head does the LS7 head's have square shaped ports?

That's what I thought. Everything else said that the LS2 should make more power.

.3 liters of displacement and even a larger TB

Everything else is effectively the same (obviously not exactly). I would just think that the LS2 would make quite a bit more power though.

LS6 motors that I see seem to benefit from a larger cam as well, I am wondering how big the cam on a cammed LS6 motors is.

I would also like to see a LS2 with a LS6 cam to see how well it does.

That would be interesting. What are the specs on the LS2 cam. And how is the stock exhaust on the LS2 Vettes?

Maybe I should have posted this in the advanced tech section...

I sorta want to see a LS6 and a LS2 stock dyno graph side be side. That way I can see how they perform at said RPM.

Maybe the LS2 has more on the low end with the smaller cam/higher displacement and the LS6 wakes up, up top. Maybe the LS6 just has a more race type set-up with slightly more upgraded parts...

It could just magic.

you have alot to learn my friend.. the saying "no placement for displacement" means absolutely DICK.. just knowing the motors, what makes them tick.. theres a reason why they stick that ls2 in the corvette .. and the reason why is all have to do with marketing.. just take a look at the two motor specs.. and ask yourself whats different about the two?

*and just think, before they let you take a vette off the lot.. you have to take their "driving" course...

LS6 > Lighter valvetrain Slightly better cam More aggressive tuning
Ultra performance version of the LS1 Limited production
LS2 > More cubes Bigger TB Same Cam as `01 385 HP ZO6
LS2 Replaced LS1 as the Base level Regular production performance engine

Put it this way If the F-body wasn't phased out in `02 they would be powered by an LS2 just like the GTO, Trailblazer, SS CTSV, and the Corvette.

Okay...^
Did you register to this site just to try and be an ******* or are you a member with a second ID so that you can just jump around insulting people?

Anyway I guess the LS2 makes a bit less do to the 385 hp LS6 style cam then and a bit more do to the .3 extra liters.
