best way to clear a flooded ls1 ?
#2
Hi, I wouold drain all of the oil ,if it has water on it. Also, yes leave the plugs out. I would then add fresh oil to the engine and then change it out a day or two later of driving. Good luck!!

well.... first off you will probabally have more luck in the engine department! there are some smart guys in there!!! 2nd how did u flood it???? 3rd when i get a realy bad flooded out motor i pull the fuse to the fuel pump, pull the plugs, turn the motor over a few times to blow all the fuel out of the cylenders and then re install new plugs. its always worked for me but then agen i have never flooded out a ls1 car eather. but i guess it would still work

Most GM cars will run the injectors at 50% duty cycle if the PCM detects 100% throttle while cranking. A lot of times you can get them started that way...mash the gas pedal and crank, when it fires, let off the gas.

Clear Flood Mode.. i would still take your plugs out..

On GM cars, full throttle during cranking puts the ECM(computer) into CLEAR FLOOD Mode and completely shuts off fuel to the injectors. The dry air being pumped through the engine allows flooded/wet sprak plugs to dry off and start firing again. There is a good chance your fuel injectors are leaking or you have a defective fuel pressure regulator.

Clear flood mode doesnt turn the injectors off. The 50% I mentioned was a guess as I couldnt rememeber that exact number...so I checked...copied from GM SI:
"If the engine floods, clear the engine by pushing the accelerator pedal down all the way. The PCM then pulses the injectors at an air/fuel ratio of 20:1. The PCM holds this injector rate as long as the throttle stays wide open and the engine speed is below 300 RPM. If the throttle position becomes less than 80 percent, the PCM returns to the starting mode."

also running it for a a few short periods of time to move it without getting it warm will do it. not sure why but my Z will do that if i only run it for short periods when it's cold i know i shouldn't do it but i do it if i need to move it for whatever reason.

in other words i flooded my engine once doing a real stupid u-turn showing off stalled out and a bunch of other add ons, needless to say i sat on a side of a hill and kept trying to start it and it finally came on, with pushing the gas half way at same time...
