Ok, i'm getting ready to put pacesetter LT's on my car this weekend with an ORY. This setup will be illegal in my state(No sniffer test, but visual for cats) but i've got the inspection sticker covered. Just wondering what kind of ticket a cop could give me if he's smart and knows to look for cats and sees they're obviously gone. I know it won't be a moving violation, but would it just be something minor, like an illegal equipment ticket? Could I be required to appear in court proving that i've fixed the "problem"? VA folks, please chime in.

fix it ticket for your first offense, provided your not stupid and tell him you took them off. tell him it was like that when you bought it. but if you get popped the second time its likely to be a federal offense, viloating the clean air act. ofcourse thats the worst case scenario, it could be a number of things.

I thought it was about a $10K fine for the shop that did the work (if a shop did it), or a $2K fine for your average Joe. I couldn't see it being anything more than a fix-it ticket though unless you were being a real ***...or the cop was in a bad mood.

When i recently had mine chopped off the sign at muffler shop said 2500 dollars.

just take some sheet metal and form it to look like a cat and tak weld it on the y pipe then u got the performance and look of legal
