Saw a post in the recent past about new vs. old muscle cars, muscle car era, etc. Got Joe Oldham's Muscle Car Confidential book and was reading about the sixties street races. Fascinating stuff.
Does anyone remember
Colorado Blvd in Pasadena?
Van Nuys, LA?
Woodward Ave, Detroit?
Cross Bay Blvd, Connecting Highway, Nassau Expressway, NY?
and street racing in the sixties, seventies. love those stories and pics.

Woodward only happens in the Summer months and it's usually associated with the 2 or more months prior to the Dream Cruise. We usually start going out there in late March but it really picks up about mid May.
Gratiot and Telegraph here in the Detroit Area are a couple other Hot spots.
They both seem to have good longevity cause I was Racing on Gratiot back in the late 80's and through most of the 90's and it's still going on today. Back then we could get 4-5 runs a night every weekend even through some of the winter months. When I bought my LS1 new in `98 it became a street terror for a couple years on Gratiot aswell.
Realistically all the old Ave's haven't changed much ecxept that the cars are faster and their isn't any drive in's to got to anymore. Woodward is still the premier place to Cruise hang out and make new friends

Man, that's great! like I said previously we would "drag Douglas" it was downtown Wichita. Lasted probably about 15 years, from the early 60's to the mid 70's, and then...well you know.
But then it moved in the early to mid 80's to the South side and Seneca St.. Burger joints, fast food, large parking lots etc. Local PD clamped down after 5-7 years. Don't know where it happens now, but when the 69 is done, I'll find out.
Detroit has come on strong! So-cal has posted, but haven't got a peep out of NY, NY.
Anyone listening from the Apple area?
