I remember a few pics that showed a cup shaped ashtray out of I think it was a Sunfire. It looked good, matched the interior and would be far more useful for putting things in it.

In fact I just did a search and could not find it. I would like to get one.

Whoever designed the flip out cup holder must have been correcting the person who put the regular one behind the shifter (as if there is any other place for it). It's great! It flips out and flips back in!

I have an A4 and use the flip out one more. I usually keep change and my I-pod in the one behind the shifter. For me it is a lot more comfortable of a reach to get my drink out of the flip one cause its father away. I don't like bending my arms to get things that are too close if that makes any sense to you guys. I'm right handed but drive 90% of the time with my left hand

oh and the rear seat cup holders are only good for recloseable bottles. They like to tumble or tip out.

I love the flip-out cup holder and am surprised something so convenient & useful was actually put in an Fbody. The center one holds my cell phone and change.

I cant stand hearing change rattling around in my cupholder. So just my phone goes there... change goes in the center console in the change holders.

I discovered that cupholder in a 4th gen before the car was even cranked up at the dealership. My dad and I went to test drive a V6 in '96. The salesman got in to crank up the car and i reached over and pulled out the cup holder. He said "Well... i had no idea that was there". lol

I never know the flip out was there for the longest time lol. But now like everyone else I use the one in the center console for my cell phone and keys, and the flip out one for drinks. I put one of those can air fresheners in the back cup holders.

good idea with the air freshener, problem for me is my tops are off so often air fresheners don't really help too much

i got a cut b&m ripper, i yell at passenger who try to use the center for their drink, mine goes in the flip one and your holding yours!
