..did anyone just see that?
It was a 98-02 Red Camaro SS with a huge cowl hood running slicks and a big stall..
I don't understand the show, why would people want to blow up their freaking cars?

I was the lucky guy that got to go on the show and beat the crap out of it. The point of the show was to show what shops car could take a beating and still live. I built that car in my garage. I did not have a tranny problem except that it was running around 270 degrees after the 8th lap.
Some of you may think that it was really dumb to do that to your car but to me it was a once in a lifetime experience and I really enjoyed it. I am not rich by any means but if something would have happened to my car I can afford to fix it so it was not a big deal.
The car actually runs 10.80's now on pump gas at 125mph and is completely reliable. We built a ram air system for it that actually picked the car up 3 tenths and 3 MPH. When the show was over I drove the car 25 miles home no problem.

The ram air system was built by taking off the front bumper and building an Aluminum box behind the front bumper. Inside the aluminum box is a 4inch tube with a filter on it. The bumper has some panels welded in it to seal it up completely. The aluminum box has a rubber seal on it to keep it from leaking.
The 4 inch tube that comes out of it runs to a 4inch rubber piece and then to another 4 inch hardpipe that runs into the mass air. This ram air system was a friend of mines idea and had we not done it ourselves I would not have believed it would work that good. I could not break into the 10's and the only thing we did was this mod and my best went from 11.11 at 121.3 to 10.81 at 125.01. The car was already tuned and once he built the Ram air he adjusted the tune as well. If you want to see a video of the car go to streetfire.net and search for remax rich go's 10's or just remax rich.
I just tore the car apart the other night to paint my engine compartment so I don't have any photos of it togather but I will take some of the way it sits tonight and post them if anybody wants to see them.

I'm interested in seeing this ram air...
Also saw that episode awhile ago... I just chuckled to myself when the guy kept telling you to go hot lap it over and over. It's like he had no clue that our cars can get away with that for the most part. I thought back to a few times at a track where I went crazy trying to beat my own time by hot lapping it until I got tired. The car of course didn't give a damn for how I felt.

I was not compensated by the show but the shop I raced for paid a tranny shop to go thru the tranny but their was nothing wrong with it. I don't know how it survived. The last run I tried doing a brake torque all the way down the track but it did not work. Anyway, I also pulled the heads off to inspect the engine but their was nothing wrong and I raced it all summer after the show on the same engine and same Th400. The shop also bought me a new set of ET tires and gave me tons of free dyno time and built my ram air for me. I did a commercial with a friend of mine for the shop also. If you search "Rev Hard" on streetfire.net you will also see the commercial as well.

My engine temp was buried at 260 plus after the 6th run. I have a lq9 block, ALLPRO heads .640 hyd roller cam and a STOCK radiator so the car was extremly hot. They let everyone else cool their car down except us, no kidding, even the 12 second cars on the other episodes. They shot all 5 episodes right after each other. The episode was taped on May 2 07 but did not air until July 29 07 so we had to wait a while. It was killin me.
