I used to always let my cars warm up... but not this one. My neighbors would hate me. I live in a small/quiet neighbor hood on a street that ends in a culdesac. I just try to get out of the neighborhood as quickly/quietly as i can.

The only warm up mine gets is the time it takes me to buckle up. No point in letting it sit and waste gas when I could be on my way to wherever I need to go using my gas to move the car. Plus it warms up much faster driving normally then sitting still.

i always try to let the fluids warm, if i dont warm it up like i didnt last night due to an emergency and went to mash the gas, and the tranny wouldnt shift outta second.
i have an autostart on my car so it allows me to sit inside and get ready for 5 mins or so then go out. but yeah in any weather i warm the car up.
but in winter with the tranny cooler.. its gotta warm for a bit

somtimes though when its 15 degrees outside, i like to start the car and mash the gas to 5k rpms, then peel out of the driveway in reverse and spin it around, then throw it into drive without taking the foot off the gas, that warms it up fast i noticed.

I made this same thread about two years ago, lol. Consensus was to let it idle for about a min, and drive easily until it gets up to temperature. The rear and and trans don't benefit from sitting there, so you still have to go easy on the throttle even if you let the engine warm up for 5+ mins. Just a waste of gas.
I usually start it up, back out of my garage, turn on my radio, put on my seatbelt. And then go. I drive it slowly until I get out of my neighborhood and then drive it normally. I tried waiting for it to warm up when I first got it, it takes forever, and never seems to get completely warmed up. It only takes a few mins of driving to warm up. After driving for a few mins, give it a good rev or half to 3/4 throttle acceleration and like magic the heater gets 3 times as warm. Gotta get that coolant circulating.![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Edit: here's the thread I made if you want more reading.

How to warm up your car?
I usually ping the engine at 6200rpm for about 2 min then floor in reverse out of the parking lot and then do 2 brake stands to warm the drivetrain and tires it seems to get that tick out of the engine!

When I drive the formy I usually use the remote start and let it run for 10 mins if its the first time driving it all day just because I'm like that lol. If its only been sittin for a couple hours (2-3) i just start it and go and just liek u keep the revs to 2500 and under. The only thing that sux is I HATE the freakin skip shift bull. I cant wait to get the eliminator. In my Passat i usually let it warm up for like 7 mins and run it through the gears(Manual car) then off I go, I have found out that works quite well. I have the Formy stored for the winter but I go out every week or so to start it and get to normal temps then shut it off, just to prevent anything from lockin/seizing up on me. Havbe fun with ur cars n take care of em peace
