So I'm already thinking about how to spend some of my tax return. (Gotta know your priorties right.) So I'm defiently putting an LS7 clutch in, stock clutch is becoming toast.
But for another thing I'm undecided. I wanna spend under $400, I was either thinking LS6 manifold or new gears, either 3.73 or 4.10s. And please don't say long tubes or anything because I'm trying to stay smog legal in CA. If anything it'd be shorties, but I think the other 2 choices would be better.
So whatta you guys think I should do?

Id say don't waste your money on shorties there's just no point! Id say go with ported throttle body under $100 bucks. Then maybe just get like a pro 5.0 shifter for $200. I dont know what else. $400 dollars isn't really that much money to mod with.
You could save another $200 and just get a NOS nitrous system. Sorry I couldn't help ya much!

If you're just talking performance, get a decent used nitrous kit. Hide that bottle, paint some lines, pass inspection and get 25% more power.
I think if I get an F-Body the first major coin I'll drop will be on a rear end, don't really wanna get stranded somewhere just for having some fun on drag radials.

gears is the better choice, but it will cost more than $400 for sure. LS6 manifold ***... but you have to get the one with EGR if you want it to be smog legal in Ca...
And don't let others rag on you for wanting shorty's. I've already proven you can make good power through shortys, stock y-pipe and cats...

i voted gears cause an LS1 has great power already so why not help your car move with that power more effeciently, LS1 intake is not all that bad, the LS6 only outperforms on the top end and how often do you stay 5k+ rpms, oh and the LS1 intake makes more torque where you need it than the LS6 does
