Default 2 Questions - SS and A4 Related

First, I know there had to be something in the VIN that tells me that my car is a true SS or not. I heard that WU8 in the vin is what I should look for, can someone confirm?

Next, How about the tranny? Where do I look to find out what tranny my car has?

There is nothing in the VIN to tell you SS or not. It's in the RPO codes. Check the sticker on the driver's door jamb with all the 3 digit codes on it. There you will find WU8, if it's a real SS.

And if the car is an automatic (A4), then there's only one trans you can have - 4L60E. Assuming you still have the stock trans.

Ok, I see the WU8 in a big list of codes. I do have a stock tranny so it must be 4L60E. Thanks guys!

Those other RPO codes will tell you all your options your car has.

So what exaclty does that mean? SLP included certain items?

I could have an SS that has no SLP options?

Yes, no Y2Y = no SLP options.

We have a section here on ls1TECH.com for this:

Special Edition Vehicles
Firehawk | SS | WS6 | Berger | Blackbird | Comp T/A

Read the sticky threads there first, then try a search. EVERYTHING you are asking has already been asked 11enty billion times.

Peace,
Craig.

The WU8 is on the driver side door, not in the VIN.

You can call SLP with your VIN# amd they can give you your build number if you would want to know what it is.. Besides that, everything else has been mentioned..
