trade my camaro for this DD?
like it says in my sig i have a 98Z arctic white in excellent condition 83k etc. i take very good care of it i whipe it down every single day do my own maintenance far as oil changes and so on. well the thing is im really torn about this... im leaving for the military in a couple months and have been thinking of selling it. when im away the car wont be taken care of the way i take care of it. i live in VA with cold winters and hot summers with no garage it will be parked underneath a tree under my dads supervision until next time i come home or im stationed close to home. if i sell it im looking for $9k for it. its near immaculate never abused. i found a truck in my area im a little interested in so if its home i wont have to worry about making it pretty or whatever its just so i get around whenever i need it. here's the link http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...573353639.html i talked to the guy earlier and he was real cool. if i sold my camaro id make a $4k+ profit from it. i just dont know what to do and seeing what do you guys think?? id love to hear some opinions. sorry for the long *** thread lol

You bought your LS1 camaro for $5k or less? If not, I don't get where the $4k profit is coming from. Also, there's no way in hell I'd make that trade for a 13 year old truck... Just buy a good car cover if you're worried about leaving it outside.

if you just need a car to drive when u come home, get a beater. something for 2-3k that has less than 200k miles on it, runs, drives, and gets more than 20mpg. that shouldnt be hard to find.
i wouldnt think twice about selling the car, you will find another one when you get back. just dont buy that truck.

i meant i would sell mine for $9k buy his for $5k. so i pocket around $4k. i do DD my camaro and long trips in fbody's.. well you know what im talkin about. he also said he put about as much money in the new motor for what the price he's selling it for. i would have to buy a cover if i keep it. i live in a rambler (upper class shack) so its either underneath a tree or parked on the street

So you're heading to the military? First I wanna take the time to 'Thank You' for serving. My hat goes off to you.
I'm an over the road truck driver. I'm on the road anywhere from a month to 3 months. I pay $250 a month for a 24 hour secured storage for 2 cars (My Camaro and my wife's Blazer since she rides with me). If I left my car with my family, it'll just sit in the drive way and no way will I let that happen. I say keep the car. If your car is worth to you as much as mine is to me, get a storage. You can have your bank do an auto payment. Keep the car. Get a storage. You'll be glad you did. I am. Hope all works out.

My buddy had this same problem when he left for basic. What he did was prepared the car for storage and got a cover for it. When he came back on leave after basic he put the car back on the road and drove it back to his base so he'd have wheels where he was stationed.
And we're in NY, so I guarantee our winters are a hell of a lot colder than yours!

just out of curiousity what branch of the military are you joining? i was kinda in your position before i joined the marine corps, but never once did i want to sell my TA. after you get done with boot camp and training for your MOS you will be allowed to take your car to your duty station. when you deploy you can have your car stored during the time your gone for no charge. if you want to sell it then go ahead, but it just seems like you're doing it for the wrong reasons. this past summer i left the Trans Am with my parents after my 1st deployment and bought a 06 Grand Prix as a DD. its not a bad car but for someone used to a LS1 f-body it kinda sucked. i think if you get rid of your camaro you'll miss it and end up buying another down the road. once you get used to having a fast car you might have a hard time getting used to a "normal vehicle."

defintly keep the camaro. buy a nice cover for it, and make sure you got insurance incase that tree falls on it. you could probably also look into storage compaines, maybe you can get a military discount
