regular to synthetic oil
I've got a 383 stroker lt1 and since the new motor has gone in it has only been ran on regular oil. I thought synthetic would free up some more hp but I don't know how risky it would be to switch now. There is only 30 k on the new motor. What do you guys think?

I can't think of any reason why it would be a problem with a lower mileage motor, but I figure there is something that made the previous owner run regular oil rather than synthetic. I'll probably ask him, just wanted to hear a few opinions, Thanks

to be honest, you won't hurt anything.
is it a good idea? maybe.
different oils have different additives and by switching you will experience some consumption.
normally what i recommend is to run a blend, then go to the full syn.

one or at most 2 is usually sufficient.
it's normally adviseable to stick with either syn or conventional and within that, it's best to stick with one brand.
personally i like Mobil one. the last owner used redline. i will change the first batch of Mobil One out sooner than i normally would, then i'll stick with Mobil One from now on.
