Default What do you guys think about this Trade???

Hey guys, Im thinkin about trading in my car for one that I found here local. I was just wondering what you guys think. My car is 98 Z28 red/leather/T-tops with right at 81K, It has the below mods and is in perfect shape. The car Im looking at is a 2001 Monterey Maroon Metallic z28 with 18,000K on it. They want 14900 for it before the whole write down and pass numbers deal. Im really thinking about doing this, the car is all stock and is perfect. The seats are still stiff becuase they havent even been broke in yet!! I dont really want to got more in debt again but I dont know if want to pass this up. Let me know your thoughts and opinions
Thanks,
Jake

Here are a couple pics of the car

go for it. mod-wise it doesnt look like you are too deep into the 98 of yours. 3 years newer, 63k less miles, LS6 intake. do you owe anything on yours?

Ya I owe some but Im used to paying for it and its really not that bad. I would be able to get a better rate since its newer though.

thats ok if you owe, but i wouldnt do it if you were upside down on your loan. so as long as you get enough to pay off the 98 and then some, do it.

X2 if your upside down your SOL. You will be paying way to much if thats the case wich you should have yours paid off buy now if not close to it on a 98 depending on when you bought it. Good luck man!

i dunno if the lower interest rate is enough to offset the extra money thrown on to the deal because of what you owe on the 98

upside down (ex. owing 14,000 and only getting 11,000) call the bank where you got the loan from and request a payoff amount.

I would only accept within a few hundred dollars of my payoff, if they dont deal then O-well I still have the Dang nice 98. However I am willing to pay more for the car its self since it is newer

i know you would be willing to pay more, but i would never buy a car for more than the dealer is asking. and that is what you essentially would be doing if you were upside down. i know a newer car is exciting, but you gotta be smart with your money.

I hate that, The best thing to do is say not good enough and walk out...They always call back with a better deal.

I agree with all that has been said. . . .if you can get enough to pay your current car off then go for it. I love that color and the interior is perfect.

If you make a jack off offer you deserve to get called everyday. Expect to get lowballed on your trade if you lowball their price, if you pay their price make them pay yours on your vehicle. It's all a numbers game. Check KBB and NADA and also other dealers in the area with similar cars.

Also since your car is a 98 it's going to be a harder car for them to sell as banks won't be as willing to finance a customer on a 10 year old car with higher mileage. I found a 98 Formula for a good price and my Credit Union gave me a hard time and it was under 20k miles.

I would put your car up for sale on the forums and locally you'll probably get about $1,000-$2,000 more for it but deal with all the stuff that goes with selling a vehicle. Sometimes it better to let the dealer deal with it and take a little hit. Weigh your options and good luck.
